Kessler Sliders for AF-100 - photo

I am seriously considering the Kessler philip bloom slider, but which size ? ... 2 foot or 3 foot, how easy is the 3 foot to work with with one centre mounted supporting tripod

When he was here for Rode mics recently, Philip Bloom recommended 2' because it's easier to transport and you don't notice the extra foot on the 3.

I run a 2' Indislider with the 503 head and if the rig is not *too heavy* a centre mount works well and doesn't overbalance.

But I am prepared to add a supporting stand .. if I've got the setup time.

Cheers.

Does the 2' CineSlider also require a dual support system, or just the 3' one? I see that Kessler offers their CineSlider in both 2' and 3' versions as well as the Phillip Bloom version in both the 2' and 3' versions... what I'm trying to figure out is if the PB version is really worth the almost $500 price difference. . .

I have both of those too.

I love the CineSlider, but the 2' is much easier to move around in tight locations, & can be supported by just a tripod, while the CineSlider is best wrangled by two people, & requires a dual support system.

Our lightweight travel setup (Sorry for the bad picture)

We had some initial issues upfront with tight spots on the 3ft, but eventually found a happy medium by adjusting the carriage assembly. I thought about going with the 5ft, but now am really happy we with with the 3ft instead. I would imagine the 5ft to be very cumbersome to deal with.
What brand Tripod and Head is this and does it hold the slide all the way to to end.

Is the price difference worth it...

It's Panther C100 Sticks w/the Hercules Head mounted on them and the Panther X15 Head mounted to the slider. Yes it will hold all the way to the end as long as you don't get too wild with the slide.

I emailed Kessler and the differences are it comes with: the bag, red anodized ends, the extended stabilizer feet, the flat mount, the cineslider adjustable crank, and the damping function of the cineslider. So really it's a miniaturized cineslider. So if you add up the cart to get to similar specs, it seems the damping, crank, and anodizing are over $100.

I have the 3ft. I have it rigged with a sachtler dovetail that snaps right on to my Sachtler video 25 head. I love the size ,not to big, not to small. It supports my fully rigged Varicam with onboard moniter with no issues. I do not need any additional support . Was a great investment, and is a great alternative when a dolly is not in the budget. The 5 footer would would need additional support, which kind of defeats the purpose for me. Most of my moves are only 5-6 seconds . my 2 cents
