For you fellow AF-100 shooters that want a slider that won't bend when sliding, we just got our 2 Kessler Crane sliders and they both work fantastic, I’m actually surprised how tank-like these things are built. Thought I would also give the chance for people to also check out the size difference between the 3' CineSlider model and the new 2' Phillip Bloom travelers' edition. To my surprise, the 2’ traveler version is MUCH smaller than I thought it would be but really is perfect for traveling and it's also short enough where I don't see any bend when using an AF-100.

For those that wanted to see these two models side-by-side, Here ya go…

I have both of those too.

I love the CineSlider, but the 2' is much easier to move around in tight locations, & can be supported by just a tripod, while the CineSlider is best wrangled by two people, & requires a dual support system.

I agree...I've had the 3' for a year and the 5' for a month along with oracle/motor...great products and the folks at Kessler are great with questions and support.

The Cineslider is built like a tank. It's pricey. But you get the feeling that you'll never have to buy another one for another decade or more!

Hey guys, hopefully you can help me out.
Is the general consensus that most people who have the 3 foot version cineslider, wish they bought the 5 foot. Don't know which one to get, but I am worried I might regret getting the 3 foot because I missing the extra 2 feet.
Thanks
Taj

If your choice is between the 3' and 5' I would recommend the 3'. It's a bit easier to carry around and for smaller cameras it can be center mounted. It's easier to fly with as well.

I use a 2' slider since most of the slides I need don't have to last more than 5 to 10 seconds. I do commercial production not narrative films. A spot is generally :30 seconds, so it depends what your needs are. The advantages of the smaller slider is not just portability while traveling but easier to use in the field.

so is the general consensus that most people want the 5' version instead of the 3'?
I heard one person vouch for the 3' over 5'

well.... when you have a 5' slider it just gives you the most options...

I suppose it depends on what your shooting, more often I find myself in a cramped space such as an office or lab and the 5' is too awkward in those situations...also when flying the 3' can be packed in a tripod case with other things but the 5' is in it's own case and may incur fees.

I love having both!

The great thing about the 5' is it pretty much gives you the same travel as a dolly on a piece of 8' track.

I would go with the 3' and then buy a dana dolly for anything bigger.

Our lightweight travel setup (Sorry for the bad picture)

We had some initial issues upfront with tight spots on the 3ft, but eventually found a happy medium by adjusting the carriage assembly. I thought about going with the 5ft, but now am really happy we with with the 3ft instead. I would imagine the 5ft to be very cumbersome to deal with.
