Lucky Duck
I took my 10 year old daughter to Snoqualmie Falls today and let her loose on my DVX. This is her film. She chose the music and I did the quick and dirty editing. She wasn't ready for a steadicam system so she opted for handheld instead. :Drogar-Evil(DBG):

She insisted that I post it on DVXUser so go easy on her guys. She's so excited to see some comments about her first movie when she wakes up in the morning.

:love4:

Wow, Disjecta, you and your family are like the Von Trapps of video :)

Very nice footage, Tara! You did a great job keeping the camera still, considering that was handheld. Beautiful shots!

Steal, ahem, I mean, politely ask your dad, if you can use his DVX - as much as you can. Keep making movies!

Thanks guys, she is so excited about this DVX thing that she wants me to get up at the crack of dawn tomorrow so she can shoot another movie...

It makes my heart ache.

Wow, that was great.

I don't know weather to be happy that it looks so beautiful by an 10 year old, or to be emberassed because she can shoot a better image than I can?

too funny, here's the little filmmaker in action:

Good job! And can I say something to you as a 21 year old video production soon-to-be graduate? Take advantage of ur access to your DVX....and your Father's support! You seem to be getting somewhat entranced by this medium....let the feeling flow! Film and video are the most artistic and expressive, emotional mediums known to exist. Use this force. Use this advantage you contain over many, many others. Film all you can. Learn your craft. Practice your craft. Enhance your craft. And use this craft to teach and express your own emotions to an extended audience. You're obcviously off to a great start and I'm happy to hear from your Father you're excited to pursue more footage. Keep up the good work and just know, we're all here to help. Constructive criticism in the future only benefits its creator. Good JoB! -Chris

Looking good! A chip off of the ole block!

Your videos (& your Daughters) always have a rich, clear look to them, can you share your settings? I just got my DVX 100b and wanted to experiment with the 'looks' and yours are always beautiful.

Tara, that looks fantastic. You have a great eye for nature. And your music was a perfect selection. I hope you'll keep shooting and keep posting...

Careful Mr. Dempsey...you might want up going for your DVX and not find it....she'll be off, running and gunning with it. :o)

very impressive. Great job Tara!

I actually really liked the hand held shots, where one would have found a steadicam. It gave it a nice flavor. The colours and shots were terrific. Great framing on the most part.

You always get such great music. Do you have osmeone compose it for you or do you find these?

It's great when your father or mother has a job or hobby that's really creative, as the love is usually passed down to the kids. When I was born, my father was an aerial photographer.....both stills and film, so I was taught, at a very young age, everything about photography. He eventually moved on to designing jet aircraft for the military but photography became my career and he was very supportive and helped me financially to get through school.

It's obvious that you are passing on your talent to your daughter, it shows in her film here. I imagine you will be as supportive to your daughter as my father was to me.

What no shot of dad going over the falls in a barrel? Good job on that Tara. I liked the music too. I especially like the sunset shot, Impressive!! Give dad a hug cuz you'll never find me letting my daughter hold my dvx and she's 13.

Thanks again guys. Tara was beside herself with excitement and encouragment when she read all of your comments. She's already got another movie in the works :)

The song is from Killer Tracks, it's called "Morning, Mrs. Jones" by Anthony Phillips. It's the same composer who did the soundtrack to Magical Fall for those familiar with my Web site.

Gotta go now, Tara's agent is on the phone.
