Jim announced Epic shipping February

I dont get why Red wanted to make the epic and scarlet to that small form factor. Heat and all tht electronics cramped into such a small space. If you are shooting with the Epic it's not like you can only afford the bogen 501 tripod. I know they wanted it to be modular but what was wrong with the red one form factor?

Heat apparently is not a big issue with the epic. and after you add in modules it becomes almost as big as the red one... but with the added benefit of being able to turn it into a larger DSLR size format. such as:

There. I said something nice about Red. :P

Your posts should come with a red boy disclaimer. no offense, but anything you say about how great Red is immediately discredited due to your past history.

Why may I ask, am I a red fanboy? I loved scarlet when it first was announced, having been shooting on RED for a year, I entertained the thought of shooting on 3K for cheap. So IO joined all the forums and chatted about it. The longer I've waited, the less excited I have been about Scarlet, while still maintaining an interest.

defending red and its ideals does not make me a fanboy, incessant flaming of posts about how "THE SCARLETS IS 4's the WINS!" or getting into a pissing contest how its not in the same league as the AF100. I avoid that kind of stuff, not because I have too, but because I always want to have my options open to purchasing, and don't want to be labeled.

I can't find anything in my past post history, at least in the past year, that would make me an overt fanboy.

I always loved the idea of Scarlet as well. It would have been beyond revolutionary if they had hit their original goal of 3k for 3k or whatever. But I never believed in Red to make it happen. The idea never has at all become reality, and now it's really gone. It's too much for too cheap. They just can't do it,

Im very curious as to where the price goes with epic LT. for all we know it could go down haha. even though im not looking to get it - im waiting for the 2/3 scarlet fixed. I know for sure that if there is a price increase jim will make sure to make up a package buy that will make the price increase less painful. big announcment in the next 2 weeks yay!

Since when is everyone here on a first name basis with "Jim"?

This cult of personaliity is tiring.

on Fanboys:
Makes me think of an old Doors documentary, where one of the ex-band members says "you know, Jim lived for all of us".
Well, Jim doesn't live for me, and if he lived for them - how pathetic is that? You know I really think these virtual speculation sites (RED/Scarletuser, tilting more and more towards chrystal ball readings) are not only about having a personal relationship to "JIm", but actually wanting to be him!
Imagine having the means to actually build the camera you have always dreamed of?
Guess Jim actually does live for all of us now.

It's funny hearing mods saying "don't jump the gun, we don't know anything yet" when people are pixel peeping or basing all their fears around a blown out highlight in an artistically crappy demo piece, but honestly isn't that the point?
Judging by the AGF100 rollout, "speculation" sure looks good for sales. Should vitually be a marketing principal by now. "Forum Speculation = buzz = sales". Then isn't it any wonder that there is a backlash? Or that a new member accidentally mistakes a certain mod for a Panasonic representative! I feel like these forums are no longer about sharing information and supporting artistic endeavors. They have become marketing tools and rumour mills, and I feel there is a certain degree of complicity however unconscious or not from the sites, the mods and we the members ourselves.

Sorry, that's not an accusation or a desire to toss it up with anybody, just a gut feeling which has grown more present recently.

End of rant.
