Japanese swordsmanship and Aikido Demo Video

Shot with a combo of 2 7Ds and an HMC150 on a Steadicam Pilot.

Very rough lighting setup, with some equipment shots in the background since I was trying to get our volunteers in and out the door within 3 hours.

Thanks to my dojo and everybody in it for participating!

That is awesome. I took Kendo a couple years ago, but had to stop due to health reasons. I've now gotten back in good shape, but would like to pursue Japanese swordsmanship as opposed to using shinais.

Again, great slo-mo shots and good music choice.

I wonder if there's a place in Canada for this stuff..

awesome vid! I lived in japan for 3 years and my neighbor is a huge aikido fanatic. Love the lighting setup, very well shot.

Very good, looks great!

My only comment is some of the shots get a little repetitive which makes it feel a little too long. YOu can cut a tad more and keep nice energy going.

didn't seem too long to me!
the 'repetition' for me was actually a nice rhythm to shots that totally worked to move the piece forward. (i had the sound muted while listening to music ;)

Probably my only criticism as well. Otherwise, the edit is really sharp. Great music choice and just nice editing to it. Interesting and compelling visuals.

The lighting is better is some shots than others, but seems quite adequate in several shots. The color grading seemed pretty consistent and matches the content well I think.

Really good light design (given the probably difficult circumstances)!!

How much watts did the lights behind the paperwalls have?

Really like the video!

fantastic i love iaido footage really great, why do some swords like one shown have no blood grooves? is it a heavier sword for use with straw makuwara? Love the slow mo clips was that 60p put on 24p then slowed down or 24p slowed down. Am in awe of your work fantastic
