It's always sunny in Philadelphia in HD... Still using the DVX100!!!

It's always sunny in Philadelphia, now broadcasting in HD, is still being shot with the DVX100!

After watching the new episodes I googled around out of curiosity to see if they upgraded to HVX's, then came across a photo gallery to see that they're now just filming in squeeze mode, still trucking with the DVX100

If anyone is curious in viewing some real world DVX100 squeeze mode uprezzing check out the new episodes!

Good find!

It's very encouraging to a fellow dvx user (who may or may not be able to afford the move up to HD ;D ) to see that the dvx is still getting some use. And broadcasting on tv in HD too!!

Thanks for posting this!

nice find.. its good to see this.. i'm still rocking my dvxA going on my 3rd documentary...

Nice to see quick question though. I'm a new jack and I bought a DVX-100 (first generation not the a or b version) off a former USC student. I wanted to know if need to get an A or B or even a HVX-200 to do music videos and low budget short films nothing major at all. Thanks Will

You make the music video, not the camera. The results between the DVX100 cameras are going to be pretty similar. The newer ones do have things that make them better than the original, but you can find plenty of awesome videos (music videos too) done on the original DVX100. Try going to vimeo.com and searching for "DVX100" and sorting it by most comments, or most views. You can also find a ton of good work on this forum too.

The HVX200 is a nice camera if you can afford it. It is much like the DVX except sharper and not so great in low light.

You can always take your DVX and shoot a little scene and mess with it on the computer before you go all out and shoot something big. If you don't like the results you can try it with a different camera until you find one that you like.

The DVX is capable of great things.

Late Night with Carson Daly is strictly a DVX100 shot show all though I have seen a HVX from time to time.

Does anyone weighing in here have an idea what the in camera settings and/or post workflow might be for the DVX100 "Always Sunny..."?? I just watched it for the first time last night after reading this thread...QUITE nice looking! Any thoughts/info. would be appreciated.

I shot this music video on my DVX-100A a couple months ago. Granted I used a 35mm adapter, nevertheless, the DVX still kicks...

...One more thing the lighting is incredible. The way the subjects are lit and the consistent darkness of the background makes for a very interesting mood that suits the music.

I went searching for an old post...couldn't find it. A few years ago, someone from the crew did post up on DVXuser about working on set. I believe he said something about warm cards being very essential to the look of the show. Wish I could find the post, I guess it's lost in the archives.

The show itself continues to blow my mind year after year, it's great.

I saw Carson Daly and crew shooting a stand up at Farmers Market and they were shooting with a 5d/7d/gh1 set up. Not sure which camera, but they were running sound into a DVX.
