Iscorama Anamophic Lens Test

Yes. The Vega 12b I mentioned above is a Pentacon Six lens and I use it with a tilt adapter. I've tried it with the Isco and you do get some of the effect but it makes focusing a real pain.

Let's say you tilt up. Then the parts of the image in focus tend to be towards the top of the image. It seems that tilting it also shifts the lens slightly.

Pentacon six lenses with tilt or shift adapters are great ways to get those movements for cheap.

A few shots taken with that lens (ISCORAMA-36) today...(also posted to my sales ad I have online here):

i just got a tiffen 0.5 diopter for my iscorama 42, waiting for it to come in the mail.

Sorry to mention that you got a NON-ACHROMATic singlet diopter lens, which will give you
quite some CA (chromatic abberration)....you get what you pay for :engel017:

that's terrible. well i guess i just have to live with it.
I will post the performance of the diopters for all to see. I have seen a proper achromtic diopter , but it's designed for 135mm . That would force me to use a cine mattebox.
anybody got 82mm achromatic diopters?

Well, there ARE achromats that size, but I haven't found them in 0.5 dioptries yet. Would be interesting to see if using a step up ring would cause much vignetting if that 72mm achromatic diopter I have was used.

kd315 edited his reply. thanks

My iscorama 42 is bloody heavy and everytime I walk out with it attached to my lens, I move in fear!
I calculated a mattbox and support rig rods for it, with the 135mm 0.5 diopter archomatic - that's alot of money!
interesting idea with the 72mm achromatic diopter, perhaps with a long lens - say 85mm . you will get away with it

Most welcome deadfish!

@slinks: I'm german, we are like that, we don't "beat around the bush" or sugarcoat things, doesn't help anyone - lets nail it down and find a solution!!

@deadfish: The 72mm achromatic diopter works excellently btw. - too bad these are no longer made.

here's some test shots of the tiffen 82mm +0.5 diopter with iscorama 42 and canon 85mm 1.8
at different f stops
f8 and f1.8

No, but it does give you the very useful range of 1m to 2m. Much more useful than a +1, which I think is around 0.5m to 1m.

It lets you put the camera in roughly the correct distance from the subject for a lot of applications. The +1 makes you get in too close and without a diopter you have to be 2m away.
