Iscorama Anamophic Lens Test

Just did a rough test of the Nikon 50mm f/1.2.

(I just mounted the Nikon on the 5DII and held the Iscorama front element against the front of the Nikon)

Looking good, more vignetting than the f/1.8 - but pretty acceptable to me. Being able to shoot at night at 640 ISO is always welcome . . .

Nikon 50mm f/1.8 + Iscorama 50mm front element (also known as the Isco 36).

We need to apply to your favorite torture method or are you starting to talk where have you got a so good looking unit? I know that they are sold out even @ Isco so, second your own post and say where in UK (I bet) ? Or how much of suborn have you paid to CBS?

Don't forget your name is still part of that list... So, be gentle and careful. LOL

Yeah it should be faster considering what it cost!

Good luck keeping anything in focus @ f/1.2 full frame, you should get some nice flares with the 9 blades though.

I tried the lens hood ring + 2 step ring on my russian jupiter 9 85mm, that ring combo should work for most nikkors I reckon or 5 step rings.

I use the f/1.2 all the time, it's pretty easy to keep stuff in focus . . even with running children it's not too hard . . .

Mind you . . . . once I get the +1 diopter on there !! :nads:

Yeah ! Same here, I bought two rubber lens hoods today and pulled the rubber off, gave me just under 2cm of 52mm threaded extension, along with the 49-52 step ring it should be enough to mount the f/1.2

heh try keeping a 3yr old in focus

kids are great for focus pulling training.....maybe one day I'll be able to tug like Kholi!

Actually you might be right ! That might have been the f/1.8 (??)

That looks like 2 ~ 2.8! Or, now that I think about it, it could very well be about a 1.4~1.8 because you've cropped out of the image. The full frame just makes everything look so grand and shallow, a simple 2.35:1 quick matte really does change how it's perceived. By my eyes, at least.

Regardless, that lens looks sharp as hell, man. >=T

Yeah my 50mm 1.4 nikkor looked shallower on the D90. The 1.2 is super sharp but I have my eye on another 50mm f/1.4 8 blade lens that is just as sharp with nice bokeh for under $100. I'll report back when I get it.

Boy, Squig, you're gonna have one hell of a time in post grading/matching all of your lenses to one specific look.
