Anthony,
It's interesting your point of view about the initial demand indeed. Same feeling here. That is, quite the opposite their conservative approach.
what are the price of lenses?![]()
if I can get the money, im on the list
I'm pretty crazy, but not THAT crazy. I'll slap on a video camera Anamorphic adapter and make an oval cut out for the back of the lens before I do that.
Hehehe
Well, here's to hoping that CBS' guy has stock.
I think just about everyone with a MKII, GH1, and D90 is in and if they aren't good we won't have to wait so long for ours.
99% agreed with an add-on though: FF35mm is the new S8 and 16mm (top) format at the same time. What Isco has to consider is that the DSLR is replacing the video camera for indie filmmaking, music videos, and even some corporate work. The DSLR is also becoming the new super 8 and 16mm format for home movie enthusiasts. The potential market for anamorphics is huge, they could sell thousands of lenses if they listen to us and give us the right product for the right price.
I wish the same. I believe they can test the market with a simple offer. The adapter would be a nice bet. Although, with a dedicated DSLR design -- unlikely the Isco 54 where there's an evident fall-off from the centre to the corners. As I mentioned in the previous post I see a need for a lower priced adapter around the $500 mark with a 77mm rear thread, something a bit like the isco 54 but lighter if possible with a 1m close focus and a cine gear option. This adapter would satisfy the weekend warrior/indie shooter market.
In addition a set of 3 high quality DSLR fast cine primes with cine gears, de-clicked aperture stops, and lots of blades for around $2000 a set. This prime set with Nikon, EOS, and micro 4/3 mount options would satisfy the pro shooter market. The biggest problem I've had with anamorphics on DSLRs is rotational play from lens mount adapters so dedicated mounts would be great.
ISCO has here a market. ISCO can take advantage of the RED's dismiss too. Too much focused in to guarantee their place among the grown-up competitors.Isco could develop some prototypes for us to test and review and take pre-orders on the strength of the reviews to gage the demand.
If there are new isco lenses to be had i feel like it would be right for the originator of this oldschool iscorama anamorphic revival thread to be granted safe passage to the front of the line....just sayin!
;P

Hunter has a set of lomo's I'd be interested in hearing his thoughts on the best focal lengths...
