How to work with DVCPRO HD footage in After Effects

Hi, I'm editing a music video shot with the HVX in Final Cut Pro. For some of the clips, I need to work on it in After Effects. What are the recommended export settings out of Final Cut so that the clip will work in After Effects? And what is the best rendering settings out of After Effects to re-import back into Final Cut? Would Quicktime Reference file be the best solution?

thanks!

I have AFX 6.5, and there is no DVCPRO HD codec to export to. I also would like to know if you can use AFX 6.5 with DVCPRO HD.

RE1000: are you able to export a selection from your FCP timeline to a quicktime file and edit it in After Effects? I would think if you're able to do that, can't you use the same codec to render the movie out of AFX and reimport in FCP?

I use Automatic Duck to export anything out of FCP to AE.

When rendering I'll render to the native codec used in the parent sequence, or to Animation Codec with millions of colors + if I need to include an alpha channel.

I use DVCProEncoder to convert mxf to avi and import them directly to AEFX. (eg 720p)

Then export seq tga files for use in other facilties such as Inferno/Flame or work on them in AEFX with appropriate size COMP.

Its painful and laborious but works. (ie not ideal but how else can one deliver HD)
