Yes, wait for more a few days. Probably you'll pay less than a half for a new lens. The guy didn't say if they have stock of the old or late model. That ebay lens was an old lens. Perhaps not even coated. Old lenses are not good for modern digital sensors.I'm pretty crazy, but not THAT crazy. I'll slap on a video camera Anamorphic adapter and make an oval cut out for the back of the lens before I do that.
Hehehe
Well, here's to hoping that CBS' guy has stock.

Understood, but in this particular case with the lens that was auctioned on Ebay, it had that misaligned blade, and what appeared to be some pretty serious wear. The panasonic adapters sell for over $500 second hand and $700+ new, the isco is sharper so it is worth a bit more. Up until recently gokevin had 2 or 3 of them selling for somewhere around $700 I think. $700-$900 isn't that much for a good quality lens especially an anamorphic one.
you bet.. it happened at least w/ the last 2 ebay previous deals.. ebay deals.. BS.. ebay is a scam in 50% of them.. me says because me knows those 2 other cases.. july 2009.. ebay is not what seems to be.I can't believe that lens went for $911.
I think somebody deliberately splashed it with no intent to pay, in which case the seller will probably go back and accomodate the 2nd bidder.
So, the lens still probably sold for well over $500.
That lens really shouldn't sell for beyond $450 and that's while acknowledging the lens' rarity.
However, when some people get to thinking it's their only opportunity to own the lens, they can go to great extents, ultimately justifying it by assuming it's resell value will increase over time as if it matured like a fine wine.
I'm really looking forward to CBS' source coming through.
That guy will catch on soon enough once people swarm him with offers.
If not before then by simply googling and discovering this thread, he'll know there's a renewed market and that the lens is being hunted.
It's funny, I always wanted an anamorphic lens set, but hadn't felt so compelled to get just one until Rich made this post and everyone started getting involved.
yeah.. you've nailed itUnderstood, but in this particular case with the lens that was auctioned on Ebay, it had that misaligned blade, and what appeared to be some pretty serious wear.
Though the glass was still really clean, but as I think CBS noted, it was an older non-coated version of the lens as well, so that's why I think the lens shouldn't have cost so much. However, to each their own, it's valued more by some than others that's for sure.
SOLD!But in system the price (NEW) is 450.00. This information I can confirm. It is written in his email. And he confirmed that's the price I will pay.

I don't know how many units the Isco rep has available exactly, but he responded to an email that I sent this weekend trying to know something more. He doesn't know for sure how many units. Only when the partner will return of vacations they will know. But in system the price (NEW) is 450.00. This information I can confirm. It is written in his email. Cool that you took the time to gif Rich's sample to emphasize your point, and I think you may be right - assuming Rich's lens is uncoated.I would have thought it being the older non-coated version - you would end up with more flare and glare and various light issues ?
ie: the very thing that makes these lenses look so nice !?

If my thinking is not too faulty on this - I would actually choose an un-coated version if I had the choice.
