Iscorama Anamophic Lens Test

yeah I already had a look at that option. A mattebox with 2 independently rotating filter holders is the only way to go. It was something I was looking at getting but it wasn't essential until now.

I've also been getting some unwanted flares outdoors, not the cool flares you get when you point it at a light source but a reflection of the lens iris in the shot so a mattebox should deal with that too.

Ack, I'd still say we champion 4:3 or the native 3:2 ratio for shooting video to Canon because being 16:9 and having a 1.5x adapter is just too wide...

Idealy I'd like a 4:3 and then use a 2.0x adapter, but I can settle for the 3:2 and 1.5. Or would it be 16:9 and then a 1.33x adapter?

Give us 24p and another shooting size plz Canon loel!!!

This is a great thread. I've been an owner of two Iscorama anamorphics for quite sometime now and just lately combined them with a 50mm nikon which makes the fast and nice. Thank you for the tips on the diopters also, amazing dof! As I own Two of these lenses I've enlisted one in ebay. I'll post some still examples soon, as my d80 doesn't have a movie function even tho that was my ultimate goal. Waiting for the magical Canon 7D if it ever arrives.

The ebay listing can be found here. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170372516828

the vignetting looks about the same as what I get with the pentax, do you get less vignetting with the f/1.8?

I think so, yes.

Although how near you can get the rear element of the Iscorama to the front element of the prime plays a role - and I am not sure I have got either (the f/1.2 or the f/1.8) as close as they can be.

yeah I'm waiting on some more adapters to get closer. This wouldn't be an issue on a crop sensor I could go to 28mm on the D90 with no vignetting.

Hi talented friends,
I'm awaiting any news about purchasing the lens like a bunch of people here.
meanwhile, does someone know if any of these are relevant:
50mm Isco HD
50mm Isco MC
50mm Schneider SC
with 72.5 mm barrel - cinema lenses...

I'm guessing those are not the ones were all looking for, right?

Hi Lee,
really?
I was sure the opposite, so which one of those is usable on a 5Dmk2 ?
and how can a 72.5 mount be relevant - is it that the part of the lens that
you can change for nikon 50, or would it require a canon ~ cinema lens convertor?

thanks

The isco cine lenses are just that lenses that mount on cinema projectors, some of them don't even have threaded mounts and some are not anamorphic. The only isco's that have been tested with DSLR's are the iscorama, the isco 36 (the front adapter part of the iscorama, 49mm thread) and the isco 54 (77mm thread). Untested are the isco 46, the iscorama 2001 and the widescreen 2000 which should work but nobody has found one yet.

Hi Guys! I have been reading this forum for a couple of weeks. You guys are awesome. So, like everyone else, I am totally freaked out by the Iscorama footage...(sigh) So please add me to the list of people who would pay green backs for one.

Also, I have purchased an old anamorphic lens (SANKOR 16mm ANAMORPHIC CINEMASCOPE Lens 16C)....just to see what the footage looks like if I rig it to my D90. (I know, I know D90 blah blah blah) It's on the way from across the pond...I'll post footage once I get it rigged.

Agreed. Wanted to make sure I was added to this list too. I sent CBS a PM a while back, but wanted to add to the officialness.

I PM'd him immediately after is first post, and after he announced pricing. I got responses from him quickly then, but now he's M.I.A and unresponsive.
I suppose he's still testing his copy, but even then he knows how rabid everybody here has gotten and generally stays on top of it.
In this kind of a situation somebody (not saying CBS) could have been approached and possibly undercut or crossed by somebody who was aggressive to make and/or get a better deal.
It would seriously suck if that happened, especially knowing I was right there front and center with cash in hand and still came away with nothing.
At the very least, we know there may be some other options available soon.
