Is the HVX200 close to the AJ-HDC20A - or better?

I was looking at old saved HTML web pages on my hard drive, regarding HD cameras, and found one for the Panasonic AJ-HDC20A - costing around $60,000 several years ago.

is the HVX200 similar, better, or no way near it's quality?

.. OK... OK ... don't laugh, I know a $60,000 camera is better than the $6,000 camera, but I can't help wonder, ... IS IT REALLY, ?

being this AJ-HDC20A was from around 8 or so years ago, maybe the HVX200 is just as good now.

I attached the archived HTML page (.mht) format, so just one click opens it with text and pix's, I tried to remove the activeX that trys to load, but don't worry it's not needed to see the info on the page, so you can ignore the popup from IE6 about it.

I also attached a JPG from the page, of the camera, if you don't want to get the .mht file (zipped) here.

I would attach the USER Manual, but it's near 3megs even Zipped, so, it's way more than this site allows for PDF attachments.

you know, I was serious with this question,... :D

has the technology now, made a $60,000 camera back then,...
cost less now, like the HVX200, with more features?

or is that $60,000 camera still better? ... if so, what makes it cost so much?

OR, should I just delete this post and have a coffee and donut?
:violin:... and take a warm bath ... :bath:

- 2/3" 3-CCD vs HVX 1/3"
- interchangeable lens vs fixed lens
- frame rates available likely differ, may not have progressive frames.
- 2 HD-SDI out vs 1 component hd out.

Horses for course, probably make a good live broadcast sports camera with some nice glass on the front.

interesting ... so the $60,000 asking price is justified ... Hmmmmm is it the same quality as the RED camera I've heard so much about here?

or is the RED camera something special?

I downloaded some footage taken with the RED, from this site, called MilkGirls.mov, and it's really amazing quality .... is that what 2/3 inch CCD's offer? of so, I'm droooooolling.... wow!

----- EDITED -----

WOW ... I just looked at the specs of the RED camera, and almost wet my pants ... :) ...
12 Mega Pixels???? damn ... !!!! and only $17,500 for the basic camera body?
that's really quite a bargain for what it does ...

Sensor: 12 Megapixel Mysterium™
Physical Size: 24.4mm x 13.7mm (Super35mm)
Active Pixel Array: 4520 (h) x 2540 (v)
Full Pixel Array: 4900 (h) x 2580 (v)
Dynamic Range: > 66dB

and gives all this at 60 fps ....!

incredible !!!!!!!

but I'm sure ya'll already knew that ... already! :) ....

... so I guess I just answered my own question....
the RED is much better than the AJ-HDC20A even when it's fully loaded with the lens, and everything else...
the price should be less than the AJ-HDC20A , even if it's near the same price, 12 M Pixels ... can't be beat.

WOW ... !

I wasn't aware that there is a fully working model of the RED.

Also couldn't find a site called milkgirls.mov. There is a frame grab of a women drinking some milk at the red site.

Do you have a link?

Addendum:

Found it, but I can't get any Mac BitTorrent clients to work with the download.

It's also at a mirror site, not needing a BitTorrent client .... see the P.S. below ...

I tried to view the mov file using QuickTime v7 on my PC but it was not running smoothly, so ...

I used the PC and CyberLink PowerDVD v7 to view it, after I re-rendered it using Vegas, into an MPG2 video file (1080 24p), and I added a Sound Track :) ... even though it's not the original 4k imager size, it's still dazzling... where can I upload the 43MB file to?

P.S.
-----
for those who can't find the original link to the MilkGirls.mov video,
the mirror link with other videos there too,
and JUST the MilkGirls.mov link ... be aware, it's 87.811MB :)

I'm still waiting for a place to upload my re-rendering of this, and permission to do so by the original author.
