Is G6 banned here or...?

Well, everybody gets excited about GH4. But how about Lumix G6..? I can not find any thread related to G6. Even G6 prefix is non-existent. Is it banned here or am I blind..? Would somebody point me please where to read about G6 on dvuser forum?

Thanks a lot mate, I couldn't find it using dvxuser local search engine.

Calling all admins/moderators: would you make G6 topics prefix PLEASE?!
That would ease a lot of things...

Its not banned, it just isn't as popular a camera so the conversation has been few and far between compared to the GH4 (and even GX7 lately). Truth be told, I picked one up the other day to experiment with, so I'll see what I can do about asking to have the prefix added to options.

I wonder why G6 is not so popular as it is MUCH better than stock GH2! People didn't discover that yet..? It has everything that GH2 had, plus focus peaking, WiFi, HDR, Timelapse, electronic shutter plus some more. And image quality is as good as GH2 or even better (in the shadows). It DOES deserve to be isolated from all the treads by having G6 own prefix!

Yeah the DVX search engine seems to be limited by 3 characters. I do believe the G6 is forgotten mainly because it came at an awkward time when the superior GX7 and GM1 were released!

The GH2 came out in 2010 , GH3 in 2012 and the G6 in 2013 after the GH2 was discontinued so I don't see what the big deal is , if you like the G6 then get it. BTW I see you posted this thread with the GH4 prefix that is the current top GH camera and the G6 is not even close to the specs of the GH4.

Got it already and Im very happy with G6. The "deal" is that it is hard to find/isolate here threads related to G6. That's it.

I'd really suggest re-structuring this entire forum. "Panasonic GH cameras" should be "Panasonic CSC", like in the stores because they all are Compact System Cameras.

There's too many subsections which can be consolidated really such as the GH13 hack (can simply renamed Hacks to make it less confusing as GH2 and G series has hacks too).

True. I'm going to pass this on to those in charge of this part of the forum.

The g6 is an unbelievable camera for the price. I got mine during the black friday sale for 5 bills. Yes the forum needs to give the g-line it's own tag. I bet this becomes obvious when pany releases the g7. My guess is if you look to the new v750, you'll see where the g and fz line are going. Higher bitrates and higher frame rates. My only regret is they didn't activate the multi-aspect ratio sensor in the g6. And people complain about it's build, but I dropped mine w/o a scratch. There's definitely advantages to be light as a feather.

We do need some re-structuring to our various camera sub-forums.

I will take this request into account when considering how best to approach some of this re-structuring moving forward.

Picked up a G6 to play with last week, threw in one of those inexpensive Speedbooster clones (RJ Lens Turbo) and performed some admittedly unprofessional tests with the combo.

I have to admit, IMO for the price this really does deserve more attention than it has been given so far.

I have 2 G6's, and I don't want to be a downer here, but I dislike them and I'm planning to unload them. The camera has a plastic toy-like feel to it, more than the GH2, and consistently freezes on me when I stop recording or during a shot, often requiring a battery pull and restart to get it to respond. The issue is not with my SD cards, as they work fine in other cameras and are always formatted in the G6. one of my friends has the same issue with his copy. One of my two G6's randomly bricked one day after just 6 months of ownership. Luckily it was still covered by warranty.

It is an EXCELLENT camera though - when it works.

I heard folks talking about the build quality and it temporarily scared me off. Yes, it feels flimsy compared to something like the GH3, but it isn't any worse than, say, a Canon t2i. In fact, all the tiny little levers and buttons on the GH2 made it feel fragile to me. The build quality on this isn't nearly as bad as everyone made me think it would be, and I actually like that they are less congested (so many times I accidentally flipped a switch I didn't mean to on the GH2's dials).

Meanwhile, a freezing camera is nothing to scoff at. I had that happen when experimenting with the WiFi remote control, but so far it has been very stable for everything else I attempted.

Yeah, you guys really should do something about the search issue. That is why I switched to the PV forum over participating here. What is nice is that on PV you have only two threads for the G6 - one for general G6 discussion and another for G6 problems. They even are starting a G6 wiki in their FAQ section. Could we at least get a G6 sticky thread here on DVXuser?

Congrats on your purchase mgilden, I love the g6 Samyang 16mm combo, If you pull your own focus I think it's the best looking lens out of the 25or 30 ive tested on it. My second fav is legacy 24mm F2.8 tokina pk mount.
