My guess is until they run out of stock.....they do want to move people to the newer unit.....Will they keep the C100 around at the $3K-$3.5K(DPAF) price or is it just until stock runs out?
Canon's action is not just for stock clearance. This is a classic marketing strategy. They have not simply done price reduction. They have slashed the price heavily so that they can penetrate the next level who otherwise would not buy it. So now Canon has got cameras at all price range. The C100 was a runaway success and now at half the price, many more people would buy it. Same theory with C300.
Spoke with someone at BH who said that price was temporary. (Of course, that could have been part of the hard sell.) I grabbed one just in case that's true.![]()
