Yeah, looks like he does have more stuff up recently. If he's still out with his back injury then he probably has more time to blog. Back when he was doing The Wonder List he didn't seem to post as much, and often had guest people posting instead.I don't know Eric, I just clicked on his sight and he had write ups about brand new stuff like the Sony A6500. http://philipbloom.net/blog/ But perhaps he is not doing all of the videos and in-depth stuff as much? Philip gets a lot of flack but I have met him, and had conversations with him, he was nice and he has managed to make equipment demos into a lucrative career. I'll never forget walking into a Frys Electronics and seeing him on a 70" television doing a demo for Samsung or LG or someone like that. It was weird to walk into a big electronics store and the first thing you saw was Philip. I've not seen his CNN work since I cut the cord and don't have CNN.
The way this seems to work is that, first, one gets the name in the photo-video community; then, s/he converts this into either influence with the camera manufacturers. The third step is to then convert the influence with the camera manufacturers into paying gigs. But this also depends on the individual aim. Some will work directly with the manufacturer; others will only use that as a line on a resume.... Though, the camera reviews probably profited him indirectly a lot by giving him exposure. I do wonder though how much his exposure in the video community helps him with getting actual clients. I don't know if for example CNN heard about him because of his camera blogging fame, or just because they needed a good DP and he was in the right place at the right time, had the right connections, etc., as is the way most DPs get hired.
