Hi, i was wondering if i could plug a hdmi from my camera to my ipad, and by using a specific software, i can use my ipad as a monitor.

Sounds great, if it doesnt already exist, i don't know who will invent it.

Any thoughts?

thank you in advance,
Have a great day,

Every once in a while I've checked this and there does not seem to be any HDMI 'input' capability for the iPad/iPhone. There are some HDMI input to Thunderbolt devices, but there does not seem to be an 'app' for iPad/iPhone to use such a device.

Best at present would be to use a 'cheap' small HDMI display...

Things may be moving that way.

Duet is an app that allows you to use your iDevice as an extra display for your Mac using the Lightning or 30-pin cable.

DJI has another app pending review by Apple that takes a video feed via USB and let's it display on your iOS device.

It's a start. It seems Apple is now opening up its lighting port to 3rd parties a little.

In some of the promotion videos I've watched, the relatively new Samsung NX1 may have the capability to use an iPad or iPhone wirelessly as a display using, WiFi, NFC, or Bluetooth.

Samsung has also released a camera control SDK (Software Developer's Kit), so you may see some cool stuff happening on that front.

I remember playing with Canon's USB control on a laptop, but it was laggy for video. Haven't heard anyone freakishly excited about DSLR remote stuff lately.
