FEATURE: Into the Woods (2011)

That's best feeling in the world, when you start to indulge yourself into your own world. I'm really glad to hear this is still moving along. A 47 page long first act seems like a lot. A first act should be between 8 and 15 pages long, especially in horror. I think maybe you meant to say half.

Regardless, this will be good. You have, in my opinion, the most important element of any horror movie: Isolation. All the best horror movies have it:
The Thing
Evil Dead
Alien
Rec
etc

Keep going. I look forward to hearing more!

Continue as you're doing.. and I'm sure it can become something very special.

If you need any help in sound (advise, or sound design, sound editing) don't hesitate to demand me helping you. :-p

I also could give advice on cooking...But I'm not responsible for the consequenses :-p

You're right. I meant the first half.. :)

The film is going to be made up of two parts.. Like a stage play, sort of. That's why I tend to call them acts. :).. As regards the element of isolation, I totally agree..! The second half is set inside a cabin - for the most part, anyway. So I intend to play on just that and create some serious atmosphere. :)

BTW.. You have great taste in Horror. ;)

I demand an update! =)

How's it going?

I have a question. Is this going to be a gory horror or a get into your head horror? Or both?

Look forward to your reply.

Hi.! :)

I'm so sorry about the late reply.. A lot of things has been going on, so I've simply had to set this project aside for some time.. I finished the first draft of the script back in July, and since then stuff has just been thrown in my direction from all sides.. I am co-directing, DP-ing and editing a short film that is going to be shot in the next couple of months, and I start school next week -- Among other things.. :)

So it's good to be busy, but I really don't want to cram things in.. If I am going to do this, I want to do it right -- And right now I want to do some work on a couple of smaller projects first.. Then I can focus on shooting this some time next summer.. :)... It is still going to epic.!

Oh.. And to answer your question -- The film is going to be quite brutal and thus we have to have at least some bloodshed going on.. But it's not going to be 'silly-gore' (although I do love that in some films), we want for it to look as real as possible, so it serves the story in the best possible way. :)

And another thing.. :)

I recently wrote a script for a short film that's going to be called 'It's the End of the World'.. It's about 25 pages and I wrote it in three days -- Just felt inspired for some reason.. It's based on an old concept that I hadn't thought about in a long time. It was actually the first short film that I ever sat down and tried to write (waaay back); however, the basic idea has changed a lot since then -- for the better, I think. :)

I really don't want to say too much about it yet, but I did want to show you a little something-something that I put together over the last couple of days.. It's a brand new TEASER POSTER:

I'm going to create a separate thread for this film, but since it won't be in production until some time next year, it's seems a bit early to do that now..

I'd be pleased to hear what you guys think.. :)

So..

I have had the whole day to myself, and at some point I finally decided that I should totally redo the basic idea for ‘Into the Woods’.. Originally, it was supposed to have been a full-length feature, but it is now going to be compressed into a much smaller (and much smarter) film. It is now going to have approximately the same length as ‘It’s the End of World’, and it is going to stand alongside that film as part of a trilogy of ‘not so short short films’..

The Third film is going to be a continuation of ‘It’s the End of the World’, taking its name from that film’s tagline — ‘Nobody Lives Here!’

I am super excited about this.! The whole thing seems much more manageable now; and as soon as I had thought of it, it all seemed to make so much more sense even.! … So it’s all good.!

I spent the evening creating an alternate version of the poster that I put up yesterday — This one represents all three films:!

I know that my name is in there an awful lot — It’s not that I’m trying to be pretentious, it’s just retro.! ;9

Is there a possibility of trying to release them together as a feature, Grindhouse-like? Three thirty minute films is basically just as hard as making one feature, so it would kind of suck not to get a feature out of it. At the least, you could package all three together onto one disc, and self-distribute sell the DVDs.

I actually wanted to do something like that. :)

I plan to submit each film to a batch of different festivals, individually.. But if they ever end up on a DVD, it WILL be as parts of a whole.. Who knows -- When it's all said and done, I might also try to distribute it to a couple of festivals as a feature.. :)

man, how did i miss this thread??these projects sound exciting...and Christian, i very much like your "brand" of artwork...those posters are right up my alley!
