GH2 Intervalometer or GH13 Timlapser Patch

Hey all.

For those who've tried both methods of timelapse which would you recommend for max quality? Intervalometer (Pixel, say) or the GH13 Timelapser. Wondering whether to buy an intervalometer ...

Thanks!

I bought the intervalometer below and couldn't be happier. Sure the manual is written in broken English but once you figure out the settings it is so easy to use. I have it velcro'd to my telescope and I use it to take many sequential pictures of galaxies and nebula for stacking. I have looked at the hacks for this but don't those use the video modes? That doesn't offer much flexibility with settings does it?

I believe they use MJPEG mode, and are reasonably flexible. From the little I've read they appear to be comparable in quality, but I could be wrong.

Thanks for your input!

for max quality use intervoltmeter. for convenience use timelapser. I use timelapers myself for pure convenience.

Thanks MR Fanny (LOVE that name, though it makes me giggle - having lived in the UK for awhile). Is the quality that much better (I mean noticeably better)? If so I'll put an order in.

^^ The quality difference is a 12MP Raw file vs. a 2k jpg.

Cheer Erik. And all of that data can be used once the photos are assembled? Sorry if this appears to be a stupid question ...

PS - I still think Slayer was my favorite concert of all time!

Someone mentioned a long time ago that there was a risk of over using the shutter with an intervoltmeter, especially if you shoot a lot of timelapsed. For this reason, and the convenience, I went with the timelapser patch and couldn't be happier.

Yeah I don't do too many timelapses so shutter not an issue. Just wanting to know if the quality difference between the two is discernable to the eye.

Thanks all.
