InterBEE 2005 expo day 1

Hi Steve.
It's from a Japanese DVX/HVX fan board. The moderator has got a some kind of connection with Panasonic like Jarred and Barry does and he is trustable too.

This is his another article FYI.

Cheers

"Under scan indication of demand was not adopted, but the area, safety zone 90% and 4:3 etc. each markers are loaded."

Oh, that my not be good news... or maybe because the 16:9 is displayed in a 4:3 panel that the upper and lower frame edges are by nature showing the full underscan. If not, then why would you even need to have markers that show "safety zone 90%" ?

More details are needed... seeing the underscan area is very, very important.

"You laugh unintentionally in the design the 28mm circle..."

No I don't ! My laugh is always intentional.

Okay, I'm done having fun at the expense of poor translation...

a 2x converter from century would be soooooo awesome.......the long tele is the last reason to buy canon.

The only problem with tele converters is they almost always vignette at the wider end so you are extremely limited with zooming options.

Properly designed and made tele converters should allow use of at least half the range of the camera's zoom. Century will be offering a 1.6 X similar to the one for the DVX100 and you should be able to zoom to close to 20mm (from the 55mm tele position) on the lens before vignetting begins.

We will offer a fisheye and .6x adapter along with the 1.6X Tele around the end of the year as the camera is introduced. The .75X wide converter is being developed specifically for this camera and will be available some time in the first quarter, but nearer the end, if no problem in the intial production occur.

These items are on display in the Panasonic Booth at InterBee and will be shown at DV Expo in LA as well.

I love the bayonet mount on the current 72mm range... I hope the new converters will be available as bayonet mount?

i use teles and wideangles like fixed-filmlenses: meaning if i add a tele i WANT to use it in tele only. so vignetting is no problem on wide for me.

i wonder how much these HD-lenses will be. are they "much" harder to produce or can we expect similar prices to DVX accessoires?

I'm very sad we're going to end up with the same(?) crummy zoom speed that the DVX100A has. And I would have loved Panasonic to take a leaf out of the Sony Z1 and include programmable zooms.

I hardly ever use the servo zoom. Because like you said zooming is mostly not an option. But if the servo is the same as on the dvxa that's good enough for me. If you practice long enough you'll be able to do nice slow zooms. Not superslow, but hey: you can't have everything. Or maybe a remote can give you slower zoomspeeds and better control. Or is that entirely a motor-issue?
Anyway, I'm glad I can perform a crash zoom! Before my dvx I worked with pd 170s. Now while we're talking about frustrating servo-cr*p...

the much expected downloadable footage seems not to be available either.
It's there, you just had to go through a bunch of hoops (register for an account and go through some back pages) on his all-Japanese site to get to it.

I've posted it >> here << temporarily for those who are interested.

Sorry, I posted before I uploaded the file... I didn't think anyone would be up at this hour trying to download it. :P

It should work now. (You might want to right-click it to save it, to view the progress and keep a copy for yourself).

Bill,
I wasn't cutting on the Tele adapters. I just find I need a really good range in one lens.....wide to telephoto. If all I am doing is shooting in the tele end then the adapter is fine. But when I need versatility without having to swap out adapters then I find them extremely limited. To me half of the zoom range is too little. But that is the nature of the beast I guess.

Kaku just posted another video that I will host for DVXUser members temporarily that shows off some first impressions of a near-complete production model.

thanks Kaku and Haakon !

It seems that the menu and controls are very similar to the DVX ! great !
So...there is a fully working model ! Good news.

What are your first impressions about image quality in progressive mode ?
