yes I know, maybe it is the wrong forum, maybe not. Does anybody knows more - we heard in Germany that Thomson Grass Valley will stop the Infinity Camcorder and the whole Infinity Series. They have problems with the technology, with the codec, with the power consumption - they never delivered one piece to anybody - so I read this in a german news magazin.

Appears to just be rumor-mongering. They interviewed Grass Valley and Grass Valley flatly rejected all those rumors.

The truth will come out sooner or later, I guess, but as far as GV is concerned they seemed to adamantly reject the notion that they were discontinuing the product line.

From the babel fish translation two rumors were reported. 1, they can't get camera power requirements to under 60W, 2, the camera is only capable of 15fps in jpeg2000. Both rumours refuted by GVG.

Having said that the camera has been delayed and delayed again. Certainly wouldn't want to pay to be a beta tester.

thomson is getting crazy
Do you hear about the antidumping law that do not allow to the major non-europeans companies to sell some of their equipment to europe? (F950, D5 decks, HDCAM SR...)
They are asking right now to apply a antidumping law to all levels of video camera equipment...

Well, It's obvious that european companies struggle to keep their products competetive.

There is the 12% video in camcorder tax, the 14% LCD >19" tax, and hopefully not the 200% Camcorder over >1/3" CCD tax that TGV implies.....

I dunno...
maybe this is inappropriate...

but the Buzz Light Year in me wants to say...

"To Infinity and Beyond!"

I am am not even up on Infinity cameras it just seemed like a question begging a response.
