Inexpensive mattebox?

Only simple Indian MBs are cheaper. But quality is lower and they have less features.
1) I find them too simple (basically a square plastic box, without "matte" in front of the lens) and for the price...easy to make one yourself.
2) Quality is lower, probably: you get what you pay for.
3) Less features: is there that many people using filters? From what I've read and what I've saw (like "show your rig" pictures) people use these mattebox only for the look, as they could use a flower sun-shade and it would do the trick.

The ProAim I got has two interchangeable "mattes" (frames) for the front, as well as two fully rotatable 4X4 filter holders. The rails I got from them have both vertical and LATERAL adjustment needed for centering the lens to the interchangeable rubber donuts on the back of the box... works for me.

Which version and how much you paid for it? Inexpensive can be interpreted differently from one to another...

Yes it's worth the price since this is a real swing-away design and the amount of metal parts makes it more robust. If you don't use the filter holders that much it will work great I bet. Still I suspect it's not as good as a shoot35 MB... A

Actually the filter holders on my PROAIM v11 mattebox turns pretty smooth so in this regard this function works better on the PROAIM.

Just as quick as the swing away is sliding the rails forward to make room for a lens change... OR, really quick is this...

I use 4 of them... "male" baseplates on cameras, AF & two GH
and the "female" mounts: one on rails (quick lens change), one on steadycam, one on jib, one on big ball head (for stills) and the one on the extra tripod (and, of course, the original "female" base on the Manftoto 503 that they all had to match.
