Indoor Lens?

Two lenses I currently own kit lens (18-55) and 50mm 1.8. The kit lens is too slow indoors and I do not feel like setting up lights all the time. The 50mm is great, but it give me more of a focus look on the face and I need something a little wider.

What are the thoughts on a 28mm lens? Reason I ask is I found an old manual lens for less than a $100 and was wondering if an 28mm f/2.5 was worth it

thanks

What 28mm lens?

28mm lenses also come in f/2 and f/1.8 but they are more expensive than the f/2.8 versions. You should be able to find lots of 28/2.8 on the used market. They made those by the droves.

What 28mm lens?

I've shot with the vivitar 28 f2.5 that you have in your pic, its a good lens.
You can see its results here LINK

I paid less than $60, so the price you have there is a little too much IMO

According to your description that is a FD Mount, the one I am looking to buy would be an EF Mount which I believe translates better. Also that footage looks great!

The Sigma 28/1.8 only operates at 1.8 because its made for automatic cameras, not film cameras. It lacks the aperture selection ring which went out of style when cameras developed the ability to control aperture from their built in UI. Unfortunately, that doesn't help "adapters" like us which want to mix and match mounts.

Yeah with a light but it was barely on, just enough to fill and take away some shadows, but that lens would have no problem shooting without a light in that environment, I was only at 640 ISO on the dance floor and 320 on stage.

The Tamron looks a little beat to hell.
I bought a Vivatar 24mm f2.8 new a while ago for $100. I still use it and it's not a bad lens. $100 may have been lucky, but true story.
No personal experience with Sigma lenses. I have a complete set of Olympus Zuiko lenses, zooms and primes. They are very sharp and well made. You can buy very cheap on ebay.
If the 550D ever gets to my my neck of the woods, I will post some test result with Olympus glass.
