You do realize that this is the incorrect way to set up the system. Theres not a suppose to be washers there as it's designed to sink inside of the unit so you can mount a quick release with the other two thread holes.

Take a pic of your maximount, I'd like to see if they're all being shipped out like that.
Haven't field tested it yet ( wanted to on todays shoot, but getting the QR plate on was tricky as I had to have an individual metric Allen wrench to fit this tiny space).
It's a lot of hardware for the money. It's going to scratch on the paint from adjusting it. Well made and gets you attention while shooting. I'll post more once I push it in the field. Luckily I had my Glidecam 2000 and that it one of my favorite purchases - shots are amazing!
if you guys have the glidecam, save up for the steadicam merlin vest and arm...that's what I would do.
I said the same thing. I've had a GC 4000PRO for years. I was digging through cinema5d.com and came across a guy who had made a hybrid using the sled from glidecam and the arm/vest from steadicam. There's a DIY adapter to make the glidecam handle fit on the smaller merlin arm. Just look it up there's a few people on vimeo and c5d that have done it.
As far as know red rock makes good, but high priced stuff. some people only trust the expensive stuff and without having handled it, I can't back it up. I assume you're refering to a rail based rig and not the red rock 35mm adapter...?
I will however have my CPMfilmtools rig THIS afternoon, hopefully I won't miss UPS. Decided to go with them after my ULTRAcompact debacle. I'll post a review after I get it all together.
have you looked at CPM film tools, there stuff looks to be the best stuff between price points. might save you some money, but it depends on what you need.
The best, Steve at CPM can definitely help you out, steven@cpmfilmtools.com or just pm him on the board...
He's been the extremely helpful.
