Indicam and HVX

Tom, Where can you rent a Steadicam for a month for 2 grand?

I don't know. My DP found a small rental house or something that would rent us a steadicam rig for $1,700 for 25-30 days. At least in that ballpark. If you want to PM me about, feel free.

An Ultra package rents for around $800-$1000 a DAY
A Flyer is a hell of a lot less. Possibly as low as $100/day

$2k/month just sounded really cheap to me, that's all. :)

check out the Magiqcam. I love mine and it looks and feels good. That indicam thing looks really flimsy.

Also, if anything goes wrong with your Magiqcam they are good about getting it fixed quickly and easily. I even had some upgrades done to mine when a strap broke. Good stuff.

Forget anything that has that sled with "washer" weights on the bottom. A flyer is the only way to go for the HVX. Just my opinion.

Jeff,

I just found this post so I'll kick in a couple of cents.

To clairify the structure of the Indicam PILOT...

It has smaller aluminum bones because the springs are external and not being covered up by channel aluminum. It doesn't "look" as beefy but it actually is. We haven't had to replace any parts on any of the units that have been built and sold.

Our hybrid arm keeps the system from torquing out of line. It's a real solid performer and it flies the HVX200, the XL2 and similar sized cameras (and smaller) flawlessly.

We have demo video clips on our website at www.indicam.com. Check them out for yourself - they aren't altered in any way.

We are working on a standard vest for all you fashion conscious users. It should be ready within the next month.

If you are looking for a solidly built system that will allow you to take very smooth video for around $2000 check us out. If it's great quality with a great name you are interested in then you'll have to go with the Flyer at over $7000.
