Inception

I think he's one of the best currently active.

Currrently active? Absolutely.

With Inception I cared about who I was supposed to, which was Cobb. I try not to over analyze movies, if they ENTERTAIN me and I come out not mad that I spent my money, then they did the job. I'm not sure if that's good or bad since I make movies.:Drogar-Shock(DBG):

Seen this one and must say the writing was masterful. Leonard nailed it, along with and a great supportin cast. Although no matrix it held its own and I didn't leave the box office feeling violated like when I seen the last air bender.

LOL. Airbender was the worst!

But did Inception loosen your socks?

Or was it? :-/

Maybe one of those so bad it's good kinda flicks?

i'm wondering if i should keep avoiding air bender now.

(isn't it funny how so notoriously bad this movie is that discussions about it spill over into the good movie discussions. maybe i'll watch it once it's on dvd)

Air bender did such a good job with the trailer and marketing hype they probably made their money back opening weekend. I give them credit for the marketing and pre visuals, but nothing else to look forward to after trailer. Should of left out earlier and asked for my loot back . They won't get me on book two.

I thought this was a far better film than the Matrix, in terms of thought factor. Much smarter and more complex, the Matrix was a much simpler idea. But the Matrix challenged man-kinds reality whereas this one did so differently and not so direct.

That's why I don't understand the character critics, in my opinion, this film is all about character, just in a very different way that's not on the nose.

In my opinion, the film is beautifully crafted and shot, but emotionally hollow.

I've got to agree with that statement - though I think I enjoyed the film a bit more than you did,
I definitely didn't actually care about any of the characters (save perhaps Cillian Murphy).

Don't get me wrong, it was a fun film, incredibly well shot with an interesting story and fascintating world...
I just wasn't really emotionally involved with any of the people on screen.

Then again, unfortunately, I can't really remember the last time a film really got me emotionally involved
(well, I take that back, Toy Story 3 ... yeah, I'm not made of stone).

No, they are going to lose their ass on it, doubt it will ever turn a profit. Word is now they have spent over NINE figures marketing it. No toys to sell either.

How word of mouth travels really quick (like overnight, sometimes in minutes), It's now projected to do a $62M weekend.

I don't know how big of a box office draw Leonardo Dicripio is based on his name alone, but I think word of mouth is going to push this film along for weeks to come.

Going into a third watch.

Pretty much got the entire story, logic, world on the second. Hope director's cut is about 20 minutes longer.

Still reeling after hallway scene.

What am I missing? I felt it was over complicated melodrama. Never once did I get an emotional connection to any of the characters, nor did I care what they were pursuing. And the logic and plot holes were insane.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a big Christopher Nolan fan and am happy for those who loved the film. This is just one where I can't really join the fun.

I honestly think that it would have been better without all of the convoluted action stuff. During the snow battle, I suddenly realized that I didn't care whether their mission succeeded or not.

There were some nice kernels of emotion in there with Cobb & Mal and Fischer & his father, but almost 95% of the action was superfluous to those characters' emotional stories.

No one else was an actual character in the story; they were just chess pieces.

I thought that Fischer, as played by Cillian Murphy, was the most interesting character in the story, but his story barely got any screen time.

The way that the action stuff interacted with the layers made it okay with me. Without that we would not have the zero gravity fight scene. Fischer was interesting but I felt more drawn to Cobb.
