Having a problem....I saved the raw MXF and text file on my hard drive...Now I can't get FCP to read it. How can I import it or get it back on the P2's so FCP can convert to Quicktime. Thanks so much for your help.

Make certain you have FCP 5.04 or greater. FCP 5.1.1 is better since it fixes some issues with P2 files. As long as you have copied the entire contents of the P2 card, just invoke File -> Import ->Panasonic P2 and point to the folder containing the P2 contents. FCP should then recognize the MXF's and import by wrapping in QT.

I had the same problem, the good news is theres an easy fix. First of all i bought P2 Log and i cant recommend it enough for adding metadata and for wrapping the MXF into a quicktime file ready for import to FCP 5.1. P2 Log may simply solve your problem but MY problem was that i kept renaming the the p2 "CONTENTS" folder to something else. So P2 Log couldnt even open the footage i had dragged to my ibook in the first place! Duh, i went back and reverted the folders back to the default P2 card name "CONTENTS" and everything worked just fine with p2 Log and FCP after that.
