imagewest.tv vs. coollights.biz (Fluorescent lights)

I've done a bit of research and I would like to purchase a Fluorescent lighting kit.

Not sure if this is accurate because there are a lot of companies out there, but imagewest.tv and coollights.biz seem to have decent reputations on fluorescents.

What about the reputation of Britek? Many users seem to hate on their products, is this an accurate assumption?

Coollights seems to have the better customer service, but imagewest appears to be considerably cheaper and have multi-light kits. On the coollights website, I couldn't seem to find kit that had several lights included.

What have your guy's experiences been with these companies and their products.

I was thinking about getting this $400 kit from Imagewest just to practice with and have a basic kit handy. Would this suffice for interviews and just to mess around with?

Are there any other makers of Fluorescents that you guys would recommend?

I paid about $150 for the same kit off of ebay. You have to understand you're not going to get a duty rated kit, you have to be gentle with it however if your expectations are realistic it will work well.

Hey Cjwolff. was it the Imagewest brand that you got off e-bay? Or was it another light kit with the same specs? That's a great price. Was it used?

Thanks for the responses.

britek is cheaper, made of plastic, but if you treat it well you will get a lot of use out of a relatively cheap kit.
i've had great customer service with Imagewest. they upgraded the connectors on my light heads for free when one of my old first-generation models began to come loose with the newer stronger version.
i recommend purchasing from imagewest directly and not off of ebay so that you get the newer version of the britek kit as well as high quality bulbs. some of those ebay vendors chintz out on the bulbs, or give you 6400k instead of 5600k.
i have this kit:
http://cgi.ebay.com/2500W-Fluoresce...ltDomain_0&hash=item5d26b62145#ht_1820wt_1165
but the newer version is much better and faster to setup (and on sale!):

and the bulbs they give you are brighter (50w vs 40w) and 5600k instead of 6400k.

I have 1 coolight portable 2 bank. It is pretty close is quality to the kino flo diva and a lot cheaper. I have had no problems and the company is great to deal with. The owner is a member of dvxuser and answers you back with any questions really fast. I will most likely get more in the future when I need more lights.
