Tuka,
you will be very happy with that camera. It produces amazingly beautiful images in the right hands. Not hard to do, just make sure you get the DVX book. New or used, does not matter. Just get the book. Read it, understand the basics and go out and practice. You will love that camera. Just make sure you get one from an authorized Panasonic seller.

And also be sure to get some sort of warranty. If you are getting it used, make sure the tape heads have been cleaned professionally. And yes, the DVX book, from what I have heard, will teach you everything about this camera. I never owned it because I taught myself about the DVX but I am sure I would have learned a lot faster with the book. You will also need a decent fluid head tripod, and an external shotgun mic.

I have these two items which I highly recommend. Decent prices for each:

Some thoughts:

1) There are plenty of great used ones out there, Ebay, Craigslist, even right here in the Marketplace. BE PATIENT and you will find a steal. Ebay and our Marketplace is nice because you can check out someone's cred, e.g., ratings on Ebay and membership status and amount of posts here on DVXUser. I bought a DVX on Craigslist, but felt confident since I went to the guy's place of business locally and if he was shifty, he wouldn't want me knowing where he nests.....

2) If buying used, do your research and ask tough questions: how was it used, why selling, what types of tapes used, every been repaired, etc.

3) When buying used, the camera usually comes with perks, like a case, batteries, accessories, etc.

4) Do you plan on using a 35mm adapter? If so, consider the DVX100A, since you can flip the image with a magnet, which is why I bought a used A model.

As Macphilia said the board's marketplace is a brilliant resource. Most DVX100s I've seen for sale on the boards have been priced around $1100, some even had loads of extras like batteries, cases and even a 35mm adapter for that price. So if you could get a deal like that you'd have $1400 left in your pocket for a tripod, and other accessories. Or even another dvx camera!

Ya like Kevmo said, Pelicans are good cases. I have one and it holds everything, and when my gear is in there, noting will happen to it! A few months ago I had my Pelican 1600 with my camera and all my gear in it at my high school, and we have a big concrete amphitheater. I was at the VERY top and there was a very small aftershock earthquake (SoCal!!!) and i lost my balance and I just watched my case plummet down about 80' of very large concrete steps... The only damage done was some scratches to the case itself. A good investment to protect your gear. And, it's waterproof!

You can get some really good deals on used dvxs under 200hours in the 1200 and under range and save yourself some bank.
Marketplace or craigslist

yes I want thank everyone for advising me

yes I have check the marketplace and there is good offers in there
but my question how trusty and loyal is the person I am buying from here means what his reputation as far posting 1,200 comments what else I should i know about it before I make the deal because I have received IGM from someone in here who wants to sell to me but suspcouis about it how reliable is that person and who will back me up if this person is loyal and trusty once I pay him.
If someone can tell me all these I am will buy from here

p.s I want also add is it compatible with Mac pro

When i bought my Panasonic HVX200 off the marketplace, i went all the way from London to Birmingham (In England) which was a 258 mile round trip just so i could deal face to face. For such a major investment i didn't want to risk losing thousands on either a con merchant or rely on Paypal to back me up. It's up to you to decide if the deal is legitimate. My advice would be to try to find someone selling nearby so you access the camera and do a deal face to face.

I suggest you read this: http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=194318

i might be interested in selling mine. it's a 100b with 81 hours on it.

Where are you located? What will you include... (Ps. not hijacking this thread)

i'm in georgia. when i do sell it, i'll be selling the camera with an extra battery. i have a copy of barry's book laying around my house somewhere, which i'll include.. assuming i can find where the hell i put it.

the thought of selling the camera just came to me recently so i haven't really done anything like take photos or try to list it in the marketplace. when i get my stuff together (i.e. get around to looking for barry's book) i'll get some photos/ take some footage with the camera... whatever anyone wants.

I sent you a message a little bit ago, so it could have been me. I can assure you I'm reputable (takes toothpick from mouth and stops flipping the coin whilst standing in the shadows). I understand your concern, and can assure you that I've bought and sold through the marketplace on a few occasions. Heck, the dvx100b I'm selling was one purchased from there.

UGA is definitely someone else you can trust. I definitely recommend the Marketplace for the sake of saving you money.

Hey, I see you're interested in buying a DVX100B. I am currently selling mine and it has really low hours and is excellent condition. No missing accessories. Will sell camera with travel case, two batteries, filter set and travel charger. Asking $1,350. Contact me at prod1131@msn.com for photos and more info.

no offene to LOKO97...u could very well be FULLY trust worthy...but to the OP...as u have said...look on the persons track record in the forums...the thread count and presence on the forums to help u decide. Also some have sold in the marketplace on numerous occasions and are trust worthy. And go through paypal...but clearly better if u can actually deal locally.
