This is the Open Gate 4:3 4K remaster of my 2010 viral video (Sony HDW-F900R with Canon zooms)


I shot this video in 2009 and edited it in 2024 (Sony HDW-F900R with Panavision Primo Zooms)


I shot this in 2025 (Sony HDW-F900R / Sony PMW-F55 with Canon zooms)

Images look great. Just goes to show that the camera is, above all, just a tool.

I had to stop about 1:48 in, though. Center your dialog. It’s too distracting with her DX coming out of the left channel.
 
Looks great. I've always been curious about that camera (but never enough to buy one). You controlled the highlights really well and leveraged the strengths of the camera and that ENG zoom well. Clean whip pans. Assuming the flip shot at 3:05 was the ZCam or a smaller camera?

A nice tour of the sites of Budapest. I've never been. That slanted garden is really cool.

Thanks for the comments 🙏 Yes the Z Cam did the flip shot and the 120fps shots of Gucci when she returns. The trick with the F900R is to record externally for 10-bit ProRes to get maximum highlight control. Dynamic range is mediocre because it only records Rec709, but it grades so smoothly and delivers nice results overall. Yep, that CCD sensor is a winner for whip pans and telephoto shots. No jello here 😃 It’s a fun camera work with. I recommend it.
 
Would you mind posting a link to a short raw clip or two (maybe something with skintones)? I'm someone who drooled over the F35 for the better part of a decade and I'm so curious about how this footage grades.

I can definitely upload something… I have a set of Zeiss DigiPrimes on order as well as a sharper/wider Canon Cine Zoom. Once I get some footage done with them in a week or so, I’ll upload and provide a link 👍 Yeah, I always loved the F35 (and Panavision Genesis). I’d love to shoot some contemporary projects with them. Those vintage CCD cameras delivered the goods 💪💪💪
