I need a camera

So. After some though. I've decided to look back into getting a T2i (I was thinking about it before. Then I realized how little money I have. but then I found out I am getting more in the future)

So. Right now, I have the money for:
a Canon T2i
(lens)

And, thats about it. So, I'm wondering, what is a good lens for general, run and gun, that is relatively cheap?

(I do not need a mic, or tripod, as of now. As I have access to those at the school)

The stock lens is pretty good and for just another $100 is a pretty good deal.

This is what I did:

T2i plus stock 18-55mm lens: $900
50mm 1.8: $100
55-250 4/5.6 refurb: $200

If anything I'd recommend getting at least the 50mm 1.8 lens along with it. Only $100 but totally worth it because it looks great and can be your 'low light' lens until the future (forget about using the 18-55 in low light conditions)

Except for the 55/250, that is pretty much the kit I first bought. I am now picking up vintage Nikon manual primes because I want to set the T2i up for digital cinema use, as apposed to run and gun video use. I am also shopping for a loupe/view finder option and I would suggest that to you also, especially if you are going run and gun. I haven't decided on a solution for that yet, so I can not offer a suggestion. There are a lot of threads on it. Grantw is right about that $100 buck 50mm lens. It is a pretty good lens, and is fast, and yep the kit lens sucks for low light.
