Love to hear what people think!

LOVED IT!!!!
Awesome band, song and video. I really like the vibe of the colors, bloom and film clutter. The only thing that kinda threw me off was the bridge section when it switches to the black setup, I like that but the ski masks seemed a little goofy at first. However at the end when the ski mask shots are strobing quickly in between the other setup it looks really cool there...
But over all I'm probably gonna watch a few more times, I really love the song! GOOD JOB MAN!

Thank you very much for the kind remarks! I was a bit worried about the "look" being to much. But I'm stoked to hear a few people say they like it!

i liked it too. i actually think you should have upped the grain a little bit. The scratches/hair/damage that you put over it would have looked a bit more real. But honestly I'm just being picky I liked it a lot

Hey! Prefacing the below, I want to say I don't want to sound a jerk, I just want to see you get better and BELIEVE my criticism will help you in the long run! I'm your harshest critic!

honestly - looked extremely cheap to me. you gave little attention to the bands faces and mainly focused on their instruments. looked like majority of the footage was soft, and you're ECU's were extremely unflattering. The location held zero production value and their performance is pretty awful (not a you thing, it's a THEM thing).

The only thing I agree with is too much focus on the instruments, other than that I disagree completely. Not every video has to have that "Big Budget" look and personally I do not like that look at all.

I seen your work and while it does look very professional it just scream "boring" to me and is something I have seen a million times on tv, it almost seems cookie cut how perfect your videos look I do not like that look at all.

To me the OP with the low budget video looked better than any music video I seen produced by you. So to the OP awesome job and truly amazing, the "California" hollywood look with the bright lights is just repulsive to me.

Good Day

@Clieloent: when dan posts a video please feel free to critique it honestly. But it's a bit much to rake him over the coals here when he was just trying to offer his honest opinion. So feel free to disagree with him, but his videos and how much you think they suck are kind of off topic.

If dan's bad work (in your opinion) renders his opinion worthless, how should we treat the opinions of anonymous people with no work to shar such as yourself?

You are correct and thank you for pointing it out. The little "No Budget" guy in me had to speak out. Obviously his work shows big budget and production value what bothers me though is him feeling that if it's not on that level than it is not good.

Personally I think the OPs video is great and excellent work, that big budget look IMO bores me and does not inspire me in anyway. Just like your work I have seen, doing all of that on a GH1 is what amazes me. If you would have the Hollywood budget with 40K cameras and a whole production team I really would have not been impressed by your footage.

Working with a limited tool and producing amazing results is in IMO what truly inspires me.

His opinion and my opinion are just that, opinions. No one is truly right or wrong and I felt I had to point that out. Excuse me and apologize if it was not done in good taste, I will learn from my mistakes.

thank you

lol, I'm not use to such thorough self flagellation.

And I agree about working with limitations and producing something great and yes that is inspiring.

Don't worry about it. It might not be that he thinks it has to be up to his production level, just that he values different things to focus on. I think just avoid attacking each other is the thing. But feel free to rip into each other's feedback. Thanks for understanding.

@Jack - Thanks for having my back on this! hah.

@Cieloent - Going to try to handle this like a gentlemen and instead of saying rude things, I'm just going to defend myself. If you don't like my stuff, that's fantastic, different strokes for different folks - you can't please everyone, but like @Jack said, wait till I post a video to tear my stuff apart dude (and i post often so please be on the lookout).

When you use terms like "Hollywood Budget" and "Huge Crews", please do your research before hand. I shoot/produce/direct/cam op/edit all my stuff and shoot RARELY shoot with a crew bigger than 10 people. If you follow my work or know anything about me, you'll see I MAINLY use DSLR's now a days. If you think my work looks THAT high end... NICE! i take it as a compliment!

here's a little clip i think you'll enjoy... note that one of the guys running the lights is in the band: http://www.dandobi.com/dvxuser/yup.mov

GREAT Day!

GREAT Day!

Judging by your videos you can definitely tell someone or some who (?) put some money into them. Also 10 people is a lot only compared to two or three. Overall though give critiques and learn to take them. Ease off on the "fluff" and bring this image to what we see everyday.

All of your work looks professional , but something about your videos and artistic direction just seems like I've seen it before unlike the op which to me showed more originality.

I will end here as anymore discussion on this matter can turn ugly, this is only my opinion

Good Bye

Hey guys, I can totally understand where Dan is coming from in his comments on my video. BUT to defend myself I wasn't going for the Pop look. if you look at alot of my work I like the dirty look over the polished look most of the time. So like Dan said, different strokes for different folks. Not saying I dont like Dans work, as he obviously is talented and very good at his trade. At the same time Thank You Cieloent for the kind remarks and the backing. I can definitely see where you are coming from as well. Not all of us want the over produced look. I personally am not a big fan of that look, but it has its place as well. BTW this was my first ever music video and I learned a ton! I can't wait to work on another!

PS Someone I admire once told me,"It's better to have people LOVE or HATE your work, than pass it off as OK"
