C100: I had to do it......

Just to add some spice...

I had a chance to shoot with the C100 with a Cine 24. It was such an amazing combination. Having exposure on the lens is so natural when shooting handheld. Really pricey lens but, it would pay for itself pretty quickly.

I have to say I love the waveform options on the C100. Focus pulling is so much easier. It's just a fantastic camera and while I would really like 60p, I can deal with it. I am close to jumping into the lease option myself, just waiting for a client to get their ducks together :)

That darn 50mm Canon cine keeps whispering to me..... Erik......Rent me......You know you want to....... Or just buy me.......

It's a sickness and I need help!:Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)

Ever since the rebates started and put the price right where I thought it should be, the cameras have been moving well for us and the other Cinema EOS dealers. It has the "magic chip" that sees in the dark, gets light and dark right in the same shot, and functionality & reliability are something you can count on.....

Eric: I notice that you are selling the 24-105... Did you decide you don't care for it? The package deal is great - but if the lens isn't I'll spring for something else...

I love it! I got the C100 kit with the 24-105. I figured I would just sell my original one I had but the market is flooded with them because Canon likes to bundle it with camera kits and people sell the lens so the value has dropped on new versions. Oh well. I broke even on it. At least you know you can get a great deal on them in the used market.

Glad to hear it - the focal range is near perfect for most of what I do, and with native 850 ISO the f4 will be fine...

Just want to add that if anyone here hasn't read Eric's blogs they should... As good as Bloom's without the seeming ties to Canon.

Speaking of Canon, my current favorite camera has become the XF100 (I own an AF100, HPX250, HVX200a and just sold an HPX500 and three 2/3" lenses). I won't go into detail here, but the XF impressed me enough to check out Canon more closely, that's how I stumbled on Eric's blogs.

Look what I just did...

I loaned my lenses out this afternoon so all I can do is switch it on...

The sequel to my original backyard video will be posted forthwith!

I thankfully only had to wait 24 hours. I've so many shoots coming up I needed it quick!

C300 is a better camera and it should be since it cost three times more. For handheld work the C100 is easier to work with in some ways. A little smaller and lighter, but the viewfinder on the C300 is best I have used. In the end the image you get from the C100 looks great!

The 17-55 is the one that gets put on the camera if I'm in a situation where I don't know what's going to happen next. If I'm shooting handheld doc style, in a room, with people, possible dark settings, needing to get coverage, etc... it always seems to give me what I need. The thing that bugs the bejeezus out of me is that I wish the zoom was in back and the focus ring in front. I have to reprogram myself each time I use it. But at the end of a long day, even though I've got 5 or 6 lenses in my bag, the one that's usually ended up on the camera is the 17-55.
