C100: I had to do it......

I couldn't let the lease deal get past me. I decided to get my own C100 and also decided to support a DVXuser sponsor to buy one. Terry at Texas Media Systems made the deal as easy as it gets! I highly recomend them for anything you need.

The C100 is an awesome camera and I'm super stoked to now be an owner not just a renter. Not that their is anything wrong with that.
I use the C300 at work so it makes a lot of sense to get the C100. Of course I would have preferred the C300 but that camera is not in the budget. I also got the Ninja 2 when I need that extra rez!

It feels good to get a camera that I already tested and proved to myself that I like. Yes it has some issues but hey! So do I! :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)

Now I need a couple new EF lenses. Let the good times roll!!!

Great choice.

I've been thinking about selling my af100 and doing the lease deal for either the C100 or sucking it up for the C300.

Matt I'm thinking about selling my PL lenses as well. I just don't use them and it really is unfortunate. I always thougt i would get a camera that had a PL mount but times are so unpredictable what direction cameras will go. Either way. Its all about what you do with the camera that's most important.

Love the cam, got it about NAB time. So far great run! I use a lot of some old Nikkor lenses, love them! :Drogar-Happy(DBG):

It was your hands on review that first sparked my interest in the c100. Like you I'm about the plunk down the cash on a c100 and ninja 2.

Looking forward to your review of both! ;)

and i finally picked up a 24-105 for my c100, great pairing. it does leave a bit wanting on the wide, but not detrimentally so.

I bought one C100 at Christmas and have just bought a second. Both with 24-105 for matching. First wedding tonight using them both!

Interesting that you're pairing the lenses?

I film fast moving events too, and have wondered about using a pair of C100s (like 'togs do) - but using a 17-55 on one and a 70-200 on the other so I'm never caught changing lenses...

Woohoo! I have never been so stress-free on shoots compared to when I had to use my hacked GH2. The c100 makes my job so much easier. I can shoot a whole day with a LCD loupe, a 64gb SD card and a battery or two.

Bring Magic lantern RAW hack to the C canon camera and i'm in...
Then i will not mind to give the clever magic lantern 's team a generous $ contribution

Hope it will happen one day... After the only thing missing would be a 1080 60p option even if i have to hook a recorder with it.

Funny you mention that Matt, last night, the first wedding using two C100s went well. We used the 24-105s for the ceremony but during the reception the dance floor was very confined so we swapped one 24-105 out for a 17-55 and got some good wide angles while the 24-105 stayed at the long, close-up end.

Do you have a second camera man with you doing weddings Burners or are you a one man Band?

Was intending to go into the Wedding Video Business myself for years but couldn't because of personal circumstance.....may still get the chance though and 2 C100s would be the cameras I would buy.

For this reason I have always been interested reading of people buying two of any camera for this purpose.
The C100 pricing means you can have two for the price of a C300 and that would be my thinking.

I would also shoot Sports though and the lack of 720P 50 is a worry....how would it hold up shotting Soccer?

I'd love to hear your new review after you spend some decent time with it. I posted your first one already.

Thanks for including my review. I've been working on a post comparing the two cameras but I think it's obvious the differences between them, however I do understand that many people dont have the opportunity to try them both as I have so I will do it when the camera arrives next week. I really appropriate the comments from everyone. Thanks and I am super excited to have the C100!

I'm glad I was able to help you. My experiences with the C100 when I rented it for a week really had a big impact on me. I like the image I get from the camera a lot and the versatility of a baked in look or log is really just plan cool! Both are great. The camera at this price point IQ wise really is a bargain. I wish Canon gave us more options with frame rates but I can work around it. After all it's all about the image. At least it is for me.

I'm seriously considering it as well, in part based on your honest review. It seems to be a camera that people love after working with as opposed to going from spec sheets. That says a lot about it.
