I got pulled over last night...

I'm doing a documentary about rappers in jail. Trust me. You don't want to go there. Even these hard ass gangsta rappers tremble at the experience. Get help.

Do what my friend in San Diego did. Turn your garage into a bar. Trust me, people will come to YOUR place to drink if you do it up right. And you don't have to drive drunk.

Hi there, I'm not judging, cause we all make mistakes, sometimes we are lucky to realize we have a problem before it is to late. I think you have a special chance here to make that change.

I would go to the presinct and get hold of the cop lady and 1. thank her, and 2. Tell her you are going to change your ways, and 3. MAKE SURE you get something to keep you busy at the times you would usually go to the bar, and ASK A FRIEND TO HOLD YOU ACCOUNTABLE!

You'll see in a couple of weeks the drinking habit could be gone!

Stay out of my state. The kind of person who would drive drunk is making the decision to take a chance at killing someone's father, mother, or entire family (as in my case).

They have one of the best programs around... very high rate of staying sober...

I recommend that you do some research on drunk driving fatility statistics especially involving children. Then research your local paper and find the names that you can attach to those statistics. Pretty scary what people are willing to risk for an evening of "fun".

Many years ago I was pulled over and breathalyzed but let go....let me tell you it changed my life and drinking habits in a big way.

duuude, not cool man. Everyone has said all there is to say about your luck that night. Glad you and all are ok.

But Como said it best. And that applies to anyone who drinks & drives.

About the suckiest thing is when you have to call the cops to help you stop friends from driving drunk, but it's something that just has to be done. I've done it in the past, and will do it again if I have to. Because if you don't, "suck" is no longer a strong enough word for the possible consequences.

Oh and Como; don't underestimate those snow-banks. My grandfather was killed when a snow berm spun him into oncoming traffic many years ago. (He wasn't drunk at the time, to my knowledge [but he wasn't wearing a seat-belt, which would have saved his life if he was]).

Hans; sounds like you might have a very sad personal experience? If so, my condolences, hopefully the culprit was caught.

And yes, of course there is no need to drink. I don't, and I'm quite happy. Plus I actually have money to spend. I make trips from Europe to the US about twice a year, on my own dime, as a college student. There are SO MANY better things to spend one's money on, than numbing down reality.

Alright. I (we all) got a story too but I'll save it for later.
Can we lighten up for a night?

It IS Christmas Eve - we can all rip on (educate) him after Christmas is over.

I'm not an expert, but this doesn't sound like a good solution.

Your will to change sth is a good start.
Get some help, getting of drugs, especially alcohol will be one of the hardest things you´ll have to go through in life.
Take some time for yourself, work out to connect to your body, your flesh, to regain your senses, meditate and try yoga or martial arts to connect your body and mind better again...
Maybe volunteer to help familys who´s lifes have been shattered because of some drunken a**hole, who ran over their father, mother, son or daughter...
Take back control of your live, for your own good.

All the best and a lot of strength to you...

A cab ride is A LOT cheaper than a DUI.

Those are words that I live by. I'm the last person in the world who can get away with giving someone a lecture on drinking, so I'll tell you this:

I walk to and from the bar (or get a ride home from a cab or other sober person). It takes me about 30 minutes to get there, but I do it anyway. It can be a freaking cold walk, but it's better than the alternative. Living in Texas, you don't know what cold is, so you should be fine.:)

To be honest, I've cut down on my drinking severely in the last few months. I realized that I want to live past 35, and I wasn't going to do that at the pace I was working on. I still enjoy and love drinking, but I don't hit the bottle heavily like I used to do every night.

Shhhh... don't tell anyone.

WoW. I appreciate ALL of the advice (including name calling), and support... except for Como's, cause I don't really like him.

HA! just kidding Como *kind of*

As the day goes on, it's sinking in on how "lucky" I really was last night. I won't go into specifics, but me going to jail would cause more turmoil on the people around me then myself.

No more drinking and driving for me, and that's the truth. As far as drinking goes, that's one I'll have think about, but I honestly don't see myself stopping all together. A cut back to a regular drinking habit is what I'm after here, and I think it's attainable if I really try for it.

Cabs, friends, walks, and staying in are in my near future... or a bar in my garage, of course.

Horse, I know what you mean, and my goal is to be on par with where you're at now. Secrets safe.

bossindy, that's one hell of a story, and I appreciate you telling it in the manner you did. Just being informative and sharing can often have more of an effect than judging and hostility.

Hans; sounds like you might have a very sad personal experience?

Bingo

hopefully the culprit was caught

Yep. thankfully they suspended her license for a whole 90 days. Surely that'll teach her a lesson AND bring my parents back. Oh. Wait. Nope. Still an orphan.

Alright. I (we all) got a story too

Does that sentence make anyone else want to throw up?

and that cop was smoking hot... I think I'll send a Christmas present to the precinct :love4:

I wouldn't send an xmas present... you could get that lady in trouble. Do that discreetly or you might not be doing her a favor. Flowers from a secret admirer perhaps.

Also... God only knows what the prescription was on your beer goggles... what you think was > sweetie, I'll save you... may have really been > :zombie_smiley: Mona save you but Mona want make baby...
