Living Downtown - HVX + G35

I loved it. Excellent work as usual. I liked that I didn't know what the piece was for until the end...and then it made perfect sense. The DOF on the parking meter and the cross walk sign were beautiful.

I can't say enough good things about this. Music, camera moves, editing, composition...maybe we should all be rushed and throw something together so well.

That was super. Wonderful editing and score. It gave everything a whimiscal quality. Of course the mythical G35 looks great as always.

Crane shot over the dinner table brought tears to my eyes.

G35 + HVX200 is sick.

Great stuff, dude!

Very well done, love the camera movement and close-up shots.

I'm assuming the G35 is a beta unit and it looks great and all, but the M2 is already giving us footage of this quality at an affordable price. Also, it's not an ugly looking adapter and most importantly, IT 'S AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE RIGHT NOW! The G35 team needs to wake up.

Having used the G35 beta I would just disagree with the "ugly looking adapter" quote. The G35 is pretty sharp looking actually.

To each his own Messineo, but in mine and many others eyes, the G35 when strapped to an HVX looks like a strap-on if you know what I mean.

Good stuff. I guess I'm the only one that noticed some vignetting on the lower corners of the frame. You may want to fix that...

GREAT JOB DUDE!

Looks amazing..

If you dont mind.....
How much to shoot it?

Color correction? LOOKED AMAZING!!
Lenses?
Craft Service? :-)

Thanks everyone

The vignette is due to operator error. I simply wasn't zoomed as far as I should have been.
This was shot in 720pn.
Nope, no filming permits.
I kept the CC pretty simple. I'm not a colorist so I did my best to go through every shot in Final Cut and make sure the whites were consistent. (each 35mm Nikon lens has a different color cast to it)
Craft services? YES! We bought two big sandwiches from Safeway, fig newtons, and KC masterpiece BBQ chips :)

Really nice stuff. I would have like to have seen just a bit more uumph to the images -- a little bit richer blacks, and a bit more saturation. But that's just my taste (you say either, etc...). Anyway, really nice stuff.

Questions:
What dolly?
What Crane?
What was the music done with? (Not necessarily asking what DAW, but what sound library. It sounded really good.)

That looked really good. I think the camera movement along with the humor of the clip did it for me. The G35 looks like it could be something really nice. Some of the shots seem to have to shallow of a DOF.

A nice whimsical clip, thanks.

This is the second footage I've seen from the HVX with some serious chromatic discoloration. Check the brunette after the blonde passes her something at the dinner table; the right side of her head has a very noticable purple cast. I don't know if this is a compression artifact or on the original footage; something to watch out for...

The T-bird is still for sale. I'll give you a GOOOD deal. (free DVX with purchase)

Dolly is home made. Crane is advantajib lite from dykortech.

Speedbump - just curious, what was the first G35 clip you saw with "serious CA"? I checked out the part you are talking about and yes, that is some serious CA. To be perfectly honest, I couldn't tell you what caused it. My gut tells me it is the achromat in the G35, because I was not zoomed in far enough (as witnessed by the vignette in an earlier shot.) But it could also be the taking lens - 20mm sigma at 1.8 is not a recipe for good optical performance. Or it could be (but I doubt) the HVX lens. I've seen some pretty bad chroma from just the stock lens.

So yes, that is some bad chroma. But I think the general lack of chroma in the rest of the clips speaks to the G35's optical performance. (can you tell I'm sold on this product?)

peace
