I can't get this adapter off my camera

I just got a fotodiox fd to m43 adapter today, and I am having trouble getting the lenses to go on it, and now I can't get it off the camera.. is there something special I have to do

Ok, mounted both of them on there.. but for some reason the aperture blades aren't opening and closing like they are supposed to.

You need to put the ring on the adapter to "Lock" position before you mount it on the lens and the aperture blades will work.

did that, the aperture still isn't doing anything.

do you have to do something else after that? As far as I am aware the blades work.

I am not sure what lens you have, but some older FD lenses need to be mounted (to the adapter) all the way until you hear click to be able to control aperture blades.

Sorry. I'm just trying to get some help. Can't get any help if people don't have a detailed account for what the problem is.

That's strange. Did they close/open properly before you ever mounted them to this adapter? It sounds like it's your lenses.

not that I recall. Just seems strange that it would be both lenses. I did finally get the aperture open, but something is still not right.

Taken in regards to some of your past statements, is this the first time you've used these lenses? Have you used manual aperture lenses before? They should just click through rather easily. Sorry if I insult your intelligence, but you should have two moving parts - your focus ring closest to the front element of the lens, and your aperture ring closest to the rear element. When mounted to your GH1 in manual mode, when you open/close your aperture the light meter should indicate overexposed/underexposed.

If the aperture rings on your lenses refuse to move more than two stops and nothing is obstructing them, then it should be a lens problem.

Do you have a local pro shop you can take them? If you're in Atlanta there should be a handful.

I don't know if this will help or not but when I put an adapter on a Nikon lens, I could no longer turn the aperture ring. Turns out that the adapter was shoved right up against a small removable metal post on the lens, which was held by two small screws. After removing that post, the aperture ring worked normally.

Nope not at all. Prior to this, I was using a "video" camera.. and had no 35mm lenses. I have a DSLR for taking stills, but i've never had to change the lenses.. just used the 2 kit lenses that came with it.

I'm learning as I go here.

I do think I've caused a bit of confusion though..

The aperture ring moves fine, and moves through every stop.
The blades inside the lens do not move as I do this though.

I did finally manage to somehow get them to open, but it wasn't by turning that aperture ring.

Definitely a lens issue, then. Curious how you opened the blades. Shaking? Flipping the lens quickly?
