I have a new iMac running FCP 5.0.4 over Leopard attempting to import direct from an HVX200 w/ P2 cards inserted. All updates to the iMac and to FCP are installed. The hvx still doesn't mount even through firewire direct to the imac. Am I skunked or are their workarounds?
note that the camera is in 1394 HOST mode,
also, the menu that appears on the camera jumps directly to setup > verify > on/off.
at that point, the on/off options work, but when clearing the menu, the freezes up until the camera is rebooted...
First of all, you are running the non Intel version of FCP on an Intel Mac. It is running in Rosetta which is an emulation layer, and is not certified for the Intel Macs.
You need the UB version of FCP to run on a new iMac or any Intel.
This is one likely cause of the issues. While the drivers can mount the cam, FCP is running in emulation.
