HVX200: Shoot uncompressed?

Quick question:

How to you intend to deliver your footage?

And what type of footage will you be capturing using your Quad Core Mac Pro?

Just studio footage?

I'm guessing since your name is 'world stunt team' that stunts are what you shoot. If that is the case then I could imagine shooting in some tough locations and run and gun situations. If that's true then running cable from the camera to a computer is definitely not worth the major headache this will cause. Also some situations could be impossible. Use P2.

Yes, we film lots of stunts that require shooting straight to P2 but we also shoot lots of interviews and B roll in the studio and this is what I was considering it for...

HVX200 can capture to a single disk if the HD-SDI output is compressed on the computer. The Decklink Extreme card will work, however, the Decklink SDI for $295 should be adequate. You can capture to Cineform for an extra $500. Can you capture directly to ProResHQ via FCP?

The Matrox MXO2 would allow you to capture directly to ProResHQ on an attached Mac IF it had enough processing power. There is also the AJA KiPro which could capture directly to ProResHQ.

The nanoFlash XDR and Flash XDR would let capture to high bandwidth 4:2:2 XDCAM. In 1080p24 mode, you would have half the compression of DVCProHD, with full resolution and in most (not all) cases a superior compression scheme.
