Could the firestore be as low os $1000?? They said sub 2k, so I was expecting it to be well over 1K.
The existing FireStore FS-4 Pro 80gb is $1500 at B&H. Then you have to add $299 for the HDV upgrade, so that's $1900. And that's 80gb. The FS for the HVX will be a 100gb unit. At today's prices we're probably looking at close to $2000.

Did anyone get to see the focus assist ( pixel zoom ) feature?
That feature wasn't enabled yet.

Any clue if the camera can output to a DVI monitor?
Don't think so; DVI is an all-digital connector and the camera has an analog component output port.

So get a hold of a 12v battery and make yourself a cord to power the HD case and all will be happy.
Can't you just tap into a 12v battery belt or vest (the same one you'd be wearing to power the camera light, etc)?

I find that highly dissapointing.
They've just substituted firewire for USB. You can still do the "any drive off the shelf" offloading, it just needs to be to a firewire drive instead of a USB drive.

Sure can if you have one! I did that for my quickstream and it worked well, except when I tried to walk away from the camera on tripod with belt on ;'0

Sorry NBC I'm just curious... what you mean buy employing the camera gain circuits?
Sorry, didn't notice your post. I simply meant, that for the type of stuff I'll be shooting, I will probably have to use "gain." You know, the +3, +6, +9, or +12dB switches on the side of cameras, used to make things "brighter?" It's an electronic "amplification" of the image which increases your exposure, but also increases noise.

i actualll appreciate the swith to FW drive control instead of USB.. that means you can buy a FW800 drive and have ALOT faster HDD to edit directly off of or use in general when you connect it to your computer vs a usb2.0 drive.

one thing im hoping for is the ability to update the firmware via usb or Sd card or Fw or whatever so that if they come out with a cool new gamma or somethign we can all load it on with a simple download and install.
