Hvx200 At Ibc - Latest News From The Show

mmm, let me understand this -- if they release a resolution chart that shows full 1080p resolution, resolving a full 1080 lines, you'd still not be interested because someone hasn't said what the CCD spec is?

Frankly I wouldn't care -- if the thing delivers the resolution, what does it matter what the pixel count is? I would think a higher priority would be put on the actual footage, rather than on the pixel count.

This reminds me of the DVX vs. XL2 threads. At the end of the day it comes down to picture quality, and I think that this camera is going to be incredible.

Oh sh*t,

Did I just start another picture chip size debate? Let's save that discussion for later. Bring on the footage!

p.s. - I wasn't implying smaller chips couldn't put out a fantastic picture. Just speculating on Panasonic's game plan.

Mmm, I can't obviously see the resolution, , but the contrast and the color tones seem very dvx/cinegamma. I like it, and it is immediately recognizable to the dvxuser eye! And the image definetly looks High def... Now I've got a question: are the hvx outputs like the hdv cameras where they don't represent the final picture recorded?

..mikko prbably drowned in a puddle of his own drool.

..happend to me once. it was 6 weeks before i wasnt dead anymore.

No, no, no! You complete misunderstood me.. I probably wasn't very clear.

I would think they were planning on getting everyone hyped about the footage first, because then no one would care what size the CCDs were. If people heard they were (at a guess) 1280x720 beforehand, people would start complaining about it.

I am interested to know chip resolution, but only because of technical curiousity - see how they dealt with the compromise.

I couldn't agree more with you all, all that matters is how the picture looks (and a few other things like cost, sound etc :) )

One more thing I really have to say. GREAT MOVE PANASONIC. In black, the camera looks a lot better then the dvcpro line bluish grey. Now i know this doesn't meen a thing in therms of how our work turns out, but it is indeed one more insentive to keep shooting with it! I love the new color!

I'm talking about the hvx, Barry!...
That's what I was talking about a few pages back as well, but I'm not sure if it really is darker or if it's just the fact that the lighting on the camera itself makes it pretty difficult to see the color of the body. If it is indeed black, that's awesome... but I'm not personally sure that you can assertain that from the small photos posted.

Where is he? He was so keen a few hours ago...

Now I just feel rejected.

Maybe he grabbed the HVX and made a break for the door but was shot and arrested.

If so, we should probably club together for his bail money...

Right. Hmm. Don't know exactly what the color on the HVX is, whether it'll be Black Sapphire, or whether it'll be the same as the VariCam... it's hard to tell from those pix!

Lol, where did "Black Sapphire" come from?

I feel like I'm waiting to hear back from the first astronauts to land on the moon. Good thing I took the day off... don't tell my girlfriend!
How pathetic!
