Hvx200 At Ibc - Latest News From The Show

Thanks for keeping us informed from IBC. I guess the one question we want answered is about the CCDs, but I'm also curious as to the current state of mac based workflow.

100b!!!:thumbdown

I hope its going to be more expensive than the current 100a , coz i just bought it:angry:

Mikko or Flatsam, can you ask them what is the resolution in the mini-dv setting for the HVX. Also any other literature that they have would be helpful. If Adobe has a booth there, ask them to scan it for you and pdf it to us. Thanks.

Resolution in mini-DV? this is no big secret: 720x576 , as DV pal always has been, no?

Let's make sure mikko's posts don't get lost in his 'dedicated' thread.

but I guess you can shoot real progressive 16:9 anamorphic DV, right?
That would be an important improvement with the DVX100

Mikko has been so completely let down by the camera that he has decided not to post anymore about it... XD

Any further impressions or thoughts about the HVX, Mikko? Or better yet, any release dates? Thanks for the coverage BTW.

It looks like they've definitely made changes to the design - especially to the eyepiece. I like the form factor better, but what on earth is that huge speaker-looking thing on the side? That isn't very appealing. The camera also looks darker, too, (which I like better), but it could just be the way it looks in the pictures...

I saw this in a movie once. The reporter goes to cover the story. He discovers the feed to the monitor is actually originating from a sound stage in Texas, not the HVX200. A discrete call is placed to the head of Matsushita security because millions of dollars are at stake. Right now, Mikko is probably being chased through the desert with O.J. Simpson.

Capricorn 1... great reference!
I wonder why we're seeing footage before certain spec are even revealed? Is that a common thing with camcorder releases? Could it be that the chip size might be a let down but Panasonic is hoping we'll say "well that's a bummer, but just look at that footage!" I guess in the end, it's only the image that counts. We'll see soon!

I think this camera will actually meet and exceed all of the expectations that everyone has for it, but that Panasonic just wants to make sure that everything is 100% ready for when they actually show it. I think there is this paranoia and conspiracy theory running around that they have made these claims that they will not be able to deliver on, but I really think that this could be the alpha and omega of digital video. Then again, I will wait at least 2-3 years before purchasing because I am just getting a handle on the DVX100a right now.

It is probably exactly that... they'll get everyone saying "oh, what a great picture!" and then mumble under their breath "and the CCD's are only 1280x720" and no-one will care anyway.

mmm, let me understand this -- if they release a resolution chart that shows full 1080p resolution, resolving a full 1080 lines, you'd still not be interested because someone hasn't said what the CCD spec is?

Frankly I wouldn't care -- if the thing delivers the resolution, what does it matter what the pixel count is? I would think a higher priority would be put on the actual footage, rather than on the pixel count.

I am a newbie, but how can it deliver the rez if the pixel count is 720 vertical rez... Because of the pixel shfiting? But wouldn't that affect color resolution?

And why is Mikko not posting?

MIKKOOOOOO!!!
