HVX scene file editor program

Once available, these items can be saved in Windows as a text file to a SD and then loaded?

That is correct.

If so, I would be happy to test this in Parallels running Windows XP on a MacPro.

Send me an e-mail to the above address. I'm a Macbook Pro user (with Parallels and Bootcamp) myself :)

hey Tlorenzo,
I'd love to beta test if you are still looking for people.
Thanks for all the work by the way.

I send you a PM on dvxuser.com

Why doesn't the send email link in personal profile work anymore?

Thanks Jason - yes it's tony at p2genie dot com. Put it in your e-mail program and e-mail me. Please don't PM me as I use my e-mail program to keep track of beta users. Thanks, guys.

I'm still waiting for feedback from Panasonic about the syncroscan. I'm giving them until tomorrow to get back to me and if I don't hear from them by that time then I'm going to sit down and go through the settings manually. I was hoping not to have to do this since it's so cumbersome.

Sure - I need to know all the possible settings in the syncro scan setting when in "video cam" mode and I need to know how many "ticks" there are between each individual setting - and I need to know the corresponding value in the scene file. It seems likw when I switch from - say - 1/25.2 to 1/25.3 I need to press "up" 5 times, but for 1/27.0 I only need to press "up" four times to get to 1/27.1... The higher I get the fewer times do I need to press "up" to change the value... Strange! Oh - and from 1/55.1 my camera jumps directly to 1/55.3... I don't get it.

The value on the screen doesn't update for each "tick", but a different value is stored in the scene file for each tick.

If only someone at Panasonic could tell me how this works...

Tony

Don't know, but when in FILM CAM mode you know that it's in 1/2-degree increments, so you know that there's 680 steps from slowest to fastest (10 to 350 in .5 degree increments).

But I don't know if there's 680 steps in the video cam mode, or if there's a 1:1 relationship between the degrees and the video cam fractionals. I know that in the focus ring you can see feet/inches, or MF00-MF99, and they're not directly related; there are a lot more increments in the ft & inches than 99!

The "FILM CAM" mode I have pretty much figured out.

Here's what I've figures out: The HVX saves an 8-digit HEX value for each syncroscan setting - like this one: 4A027800

The first four digits (4A02) represent the value of the syncro scan when in VIDEO CAM mode and the last four digits (7800) represent the value for FILM CAM mode. In FILM CAM mode the HEX value of 7800 is 30720 in decimals. The camera increments each 0.5d with a decimal value of 256. So 30720 divided by 256 is 120, which in 0.5d increments equals to 60.0d. Once the setting passes 128.0d then the counter "resets" starts with decimal value 1 and continues to increment with 256 for each 0.5d and ends with 48130.

From what I can see there's 1000 steps in VIDEO CAM mode (give or take a few) between 1/25.0 and 1/248.9 (yep - I pushed the button and counted).

I've contacted Jan and she has forwarded my request to the tech teams in Japan to try to get some clarity onto this, but I doubt that anyone will be able to give me an answer.

i hope i´ll get my cam at tuesday back from service - then can try to help you out with pushing the buttons ;)! greets

Still at it, guys. I'm currently working my way through all the settings in the VIDEO CAM mode. There's 1014 individual settings so it takes a while when you have to insert the SD card, save the scene file, eject the card, insert it into my card reader and read out the value and store it. Cumbersome!

I've put a call out to some Mac programmers that I know to see if anyone would be interested in tackling the Mac version.

Tony, if I can find a Cocoa developer, would you be willing to share your insights and findings with him? I know you've done a lot of work on it, which we are all very grateful for. If you do share what you've learned, I would make sure that the Mac app is given away for free here as well.

Hopefully we can work something out to make sure everyone has this great tool.
