Dear Madam/Sir,

we would like to appreciate your thoughts and emails you are sharing on our forum about the AG-HVX200.

As you already know the camcorder will be available in the 1st quarter of next year.
At this time we will release the price for the camcorder as well as for bundles.
We would like to thank you for your patience which will be rewarded very soon with the new P2 camcorder AG- HVX200.

Best regards

Panasonic Broadcast Europe
Michael Erkelenz
Manager European Product Management

In my eyes, this means:
We have no clue yet.
If we had, we wouldn't tell.
Wait and see.

but they don't?
Obviously a connotative liguistic difference that didn't survive translation.

You wouldn't want me to start pointing out people's grammatical errors on this forum, believe me. ;-)

In my eyes, this means the camera will be available separately, as well as part of a bundle(s).

yes, tha´s how i read that also. but it is nothing official anway.
let´s hope.

my plan would be to buy the cam here and then fly to newyork for a coffee and bring back some P2 cards that may be cheaper over there.....:D

Haha... well I'd be happy to mail them to you and save you the airfare! But if you're intent on coming, I can at least spring for the coffee. :-P

i will hold you to that.
i once drove 6 hours to paris to deliver a tape to eurosport when we missed the DHL deadline here. arrive in paris at 2am, handed the porte a tape. had a classy cafe au lait on Champs Elysee and drove home again.
so new york with is just a piece of cake.

Only to find out that you own a PAL camera, and just bought NTSC P2-cards!
( before everybody starts, I'm just kiddin')

Nothing official? Do you know who posted that? That was from Michael Erkelenz, who is the manager of European Product Management. And I was forwarded that note by Marc Irwin, the marketing manager for Panasonic Broadcast Europe.

I'd say that is as official as it gets. These are the gentlemen who will be deciding how the camera and/or bundles will be marketed in Europe. These are THE decision makers.

So let us please officially declare this rumor, and this concern, DEAD. We have an official statement from the two most influential Panasonic representatives in all of Europe:

1) the HVX will be available in Europe in the 1Q 2006.
2) Pricing of the camera itself, and pricing and contents of bundled packages, have not been announced yet, nor will they be announced until next year. They most definitely have not announced that it will be a P2-bundle "only". He used the term "price for the camcorder as well as for bundles" -- that certainly clearly implies that the camcorder will be available as one product, and a bundle OR BUNDLES will be available as well.
3) patience would be appreciated.

Whatever you may have heard before is not official. This is. This statement is an official statement from the guy empowered to make official statements:

"As you already know the camcorder will be available in the 1st quarter of next year. At this time and we will release the price for the camcorder as well as for bundles. We would like to thank you for your patience which will be rewarded very soon with the new P2 camcorder AG- HVX200. "

I just like to second the other comments here concerning Pana Europe..
These execs are just a bunch of idiots. On one hand they are complaining about low sales for DVX100A while setting the price in the range $3700 (UK) - $6000 (Central Europe) on the other. I can understand there might be a reason for the premium in pricing of the PAL version but certainly not 100%!!! God bless the EU single market so we are not dependent on country based official distributor gangsters anymore, so I went shoping to the UK..

Quite interestingly at the same time other companies are offering more reasonable pricing for their cameras (JVC and Sony)...

Emanuel, don't take things personal. You do indeed sound too "enthusiastic", with French liberté quotes, "British Fellows", and so on. (at least for me).
I believe Mikko is not attacking you personally, just saying to you to stay more on the subject and be more objective.
...to stay more silent or shorter (despite the same interests), for not to say, holey, maybe but it's not a big deal, different ages, so...

Thanks for your support or I can say - in portuguese - obrigado!?

Also for your free POV and sensibility about the 24p/60i option. I've been following your wise arguments. Congrats!

More on the subject or objective than that (it's not a personally re-quote or even misquote)?:
Why have we the gas/gasoline price that we have in Europe, comparative to the United States? Tax & tax &...

Frankly, this attempt in a HVX 2 8Gb european only bundle is more an attack - now not from state, from the capital ones - to our pocket. It's ours! Someone worked for that!!! Or someone will be work in case of leasing or another credit system slavery...

That's why we have different versions of the same thing. PAL vs NTSC is it not a question of the past? Of the SD world?

I'm not so sure, unless e-mail over them! And in their own forum, too! (Long life to democracy!) It's time to call a halt to!

Precisely for that! Last but not the least, it's also in our hands!

How much I know the humans more I like the animals. And you know well, it's not for your fault or for gurus like you.

Like the finnish neutrality during the soviet period?!... No, thanks!

"[G]entlemen"? "THE decision makers"? "[G]uy empowered to make official statements"? Sounds like "Top Dogs" from Urs Widmer...
However, I would like to point out, that all, I have written regarding this topic, was NOT a so called "rumor". And yes, I have the name of the representative from Panasonic Broadcast Europe, who told me all the things, I have written here, and our conversation was not four eyes only. And I really do not like it to get declared as a monger of rumor.
"[P]atience would be appreciated" - not always.
Just my three cents.

What's your point? That you're right? Obviously you won't know what the deal is until the camera's released. You heard one thing, another rep said something totally different. If you can't be patient, how about not throwing any kindling on the fire? I don't think this is accomplishing anything except cooking up FUD.

My point is, that I am very happy about the words of Michael Erkelenz in the Panasonic Broadcast Europe forum and not so happy about the words of Barry Green ("So let us please officially declare this rumor").

As you already know, Robert, you're not alone! Isaac, you have all the right in your opinion but Robert also.

Since the JVC has some "issues" and needs some time to get better (optics) anyway, I'll just wait till beginning of 2006.

I don't think this is accomplishing anything except cooking up FUD.
Exactly. People are getting stirred up and angry, Emanuel's using words like "slavery" and an "attack" on our pocketbook, etc.

They've made their statement. They've said that it hasn't been announced yet.

Robert, I'm not saying you're a rumor-monger, but I am saying that whoever you heard it from, it's not authoritative. Marc Irwin is the boss of all things marketing-related for Panasonic Broadcast Europe. He's the one who sets the policy. He's the one who lays out the pricing and the bundling. And he says that it hasn't been announced yet. So if some employee, or some lower-level representative or whoever went out making statements, all I can say is they were not authorized to do so and do not and cannot speak for Panasonic Broadcast. The boss says "no, we're not committed to offering just the camera only. What we will offer has not been announced yet." Why would that not be good enough?

Emanuel, I would ask you to tone down your language. Nobody has launched an "attack" against your wallet. You always have the option of just not buying it. And words like "slavery" are rarely productive to a civil discussion.
