I got 4 HVX's each with FS-100's. I can sync timecode...as colse as the firewire allows us for multicam prod but i want o upgrade a flypak. I need a switcher, LCD monitors, and intercom system.
  1. What the best way to get the HD video into the switcher?
  2. What should I record HD on? XDCAM, DVCPro HD Deck, etc...
  3. Monitor recommendations?
  4. Intercom System?
  5. What about interconnectivity? One cable, or a mess of them?
What's the best way to do this. Pros/Cons? The more I explore the options, the more i think the HVX's aren't a good options for a HD flypak.

I saw this setup at NAB this year and it looks promising but i do not need half the items. I got the audio down already with a 16 channel mackie onyx firewire mixer going straight into a macbook pro.

Thanks in advance for any replies!

Here's probably your best bet for a basic low cost switcher: http://www.spec-comm.com/store/inde..._id=91&zenid=f2e419d8a4505c947cf5262032a8209e

Or then get one of these for each camera: http://www.focusinfo.com/solutions/catalog.asp?id=183 and then you can cable up your cameras to any HD-SDI switcher/mixer.

If you are dooing lonver cable runs, then converting to HD-SDI at the camera is definaly the way to go, regardless of what mixer you get.

A multiviewer might be the simplest option, though any HD monitoring is going to be pricy. But with the HVX's in HD-composnent output mode, that's all you've got.
Recording format doesn't really impact the design of the system that much. Might make sence to stick with DVCPRO-HD, as it'll be nativly compatible with anything you shoot in camera (like iso-recording should you need it).

For intercom, get some proper commong com. Clearcome and Telex/RTS are the most comon ones.
