HVX > Cinema Display (Component > DVI-D Dual Link)

I'd like to use my Cinema Display 30" (Dual-Link DVI-D) as a live monitor on-set for my Panasonic HVX (Component). What should I use?

Wont work seeing as how the LCD doesn't have any decoder it's just a monitor... When you hook it up to a computer the video card choses the resolution.

When you come out of a camera you will get a reference of the picture (without the true resolution).

Surely there is an adapter or a converter. The component out from the camera works great for monitoring on a camera-mounted lcd, why wouldn't it work for a Cinema Display?

You were just answered on that. Component is an analog signal, DVI-D is digital only. Conversion isn't direct possible there. You'd have to have a converter box or computer with an analog card able to translate, which is indirect and requires more stuff.

be careful with this. just because a consumer hdtv HAS component, hdmi or whatever, does NOT mean that its going to be able to display accurate color.

all consumer tvs "flavor" the image to one degree or another.

i have a 19" sharp lc-19sk24u that was discussed as a pretty decent low cost on set HD monitor. and it does the job framing and focus wise. but its color reproduction is NOWHERE even close to that of a professional monitor.

so i wouldnt rely on it for color, white balance, exposure, etc...
