Hello there I'm new in here and a friend in the business is telling me that Panasonic HVX-200 is not a trully HD camera. It does compares to a PAL SD camera. Te CCDs are just better resolution than a SD camera and then manipulates the pixels to pump it up to HD. Also, comparing the 4:2:2 sampling rate from DVCPro HD to HDV 4:2:0, HDV could be better. As an example, he mentions HDV from JVC is 4:2:0 from the full CCD 1280 X 720 and not 4:2:2 from 540 X 960.
Any coments on this any one?
Thx.

Try a search because this question has been recently addressed.

4:2:2 has 75% more color information than 4:2:0

HDV is 25 mbps, and DVCProHD is 100 mbps and much easier to edit and in post.

Why not compare the video footage rather than rely on a "friend in the business." Does he or she own both cams?

...and that 540x960 is only one CCD, the HVX has 3 CCDs.. some more numbers to crunch if you want to while you search for the recent threads on this exact topic (It's a common misconception and it comes up about every other week.)
