When are we europeans going to get our hands on the HVX-200? Presumably named HVX-200E.

Shipping-dates and prices are probably going to be different, but where can we get the answers?

when i asked at the broadcast-open-house in munich they said hopefully end of feb beginning of march. he also told me the shops where stacking orders because they all expect quite a demand for it ;-). and about now the pricing should be finalized like in the US, because they were well aware that people simply might fly to NY to get cam and P2 cards if they don´t price it properly.

Panasonic Broadcast Europe http://panasonic-broadcast.com has Q1 2006, so it will arrive late March I would say.

The price is rumoured to be € 9.980,- without tax for the cam + 2x 8GB P2 cards. No exact prices yet or other packages announced yet - not until February I guess.

i was told mid december they price will be announced and I seriously expect them to be similar to north-american pricing also with the bundles. you might have to add the VAT though (15-25% depending where you buy).
so euro 5.500-6.000 for the cam only and about euro 700 per 4GB would be my guess. without VAT. but maybe it comes even lower? who knows!

€9.980,- + VAT ? That's not cheap at all.

I live in Norway, and we have 25% VAT (!) - Convert that total to US dollars so you guys get the picture: That's $11.740,- for the HVX alone + VAT $2935,- Thats a total of: $14.675,- (US dollars!)

When you said "+ 2x 8GB card" -I hope at least you ment they where included. What I hope even more is that you're post is just bull****. :lipsrseal

It's really really intresting to see how much the HVX will be here in Europe...I really hope they won't put some ridiculous prizes compared to US...:undecided

usually its as simple as changing the currency symbol from $ to Euro (dont have this symbol here .. old keyboard...)
bummer indeed.

If the price is more tha a few hundred more, I will just jump on a plane to NY and pick one up. Chances are B&H will get PAL versions in and I will just ring them before hand and ask them to make sure one is in for me. No way am I being ripped off by this typical bull **** over pricing in Europe, so its a cheap flight to NY and a two day break as well.

Anyone who plans on flying over and picking up a cam in the US should be aware that he could get checked by the custom office. This could lead to a very expensive camera in the end.

"Hey I'm clever, I'll tell them I had it already when I took off to the US" won't necessarily work. They can demand a proof for that. (like the bill) Also, they can probably track a cam's way by telling Panasonic the Product-ID. If Pana tells them "yup, this particular cam had been delivered to the blabla video equipment store in the US" then you're in rouble.
I've heard from attempts to buy a cam the cheap way that went wrong quite a few times.

alpi:
BUT 1$ is not 1€ so why 5.500-6000 € ? Why not less € ?

Oli.S:
so I will say that it is present from my US friend - would it be problem too?

Laco, because they said "under 6.000" which might be 5.999.

and about getting it in US: there is an importtax around 25% on camcorders when you bring them from outside of the EU. so if the currency- and pricemargin is over 25% it is save to claim the cam at the customs and pay the tax. might still pay for the flight and it will be legal also when you travel with it lateron. otherwise you could always get hassled at any airport. i bought a lot of stuff in the US last year when the dollar was 30% down (glidecam, mattebox, 4x4 filters, batteries etc) and it saved me a lot even with importtax.

And what about NTSC version in Europe?
Any problems with 50Hz lights and 1/24 shooter speed?

we had this discussion before use the search button.

i and many others here would not get an NTSC cam in PAL, because you will open a can of worms with it. it is simply not worth it. wait for the final prices and then look for the cheapest place in europe to get it. if you are able to deduct VAT (i do, because we are buying it commercially) then find the country with the highest VAT....

Thanks for link.
Our VAT is 19% and its pretty good. But I think there is lower somewhere in EU.
So lets wait and pray for low price :-)

I'm almost positiv that in Germany it will sell for the same price in Euro than it sells in $ over in the States.
So around 6.000,- Euros - 16% vat included for the cam-only.
I spoke to Panasonic people at a HVX presentation the other day and those guys said that they think just exactly the same about the price in Germany.

Got an email from Pana Europe today, they confirmed the "about 10,000 Euros for Cam + 2x 8GB P2 without VAT".

The good thing is that they are also planning to offer a 2x 4GB P2 package, and it should also be possible to get the cam without cards (there has been some speculation about that).

Quote from the original email text:
Die Situation ist derzeit folgende:

Die Kamera wird voraussichtlich im März 06 in Europa auf den Markt
kommen.

Sie soll mit 2x 8Gb Karten bestückt sein. ( auch 4 Gb soll möglich sein ,
ebenso auch ohne Karten )

mit 2 x 8Gb ist der Preis ca. 10.000.- eu excl. MWst

Yeah, Oli. That's the prize I'm waiting also. Damn, it's much when you REALLY think about it. :undecided

It is not only the costs of camera, add the portable harddisk, the P2 storage, the editing upgrade (hardware, monitors and software), new 82mm filters. And the weight of the cam will bring you more to the gym to train arm muscles, you need to pay for that too... :)

P2 4 gig cards will take ~4 minutes to download, so you need a minimum of 2 P2 cards and an assistant to do the download.. You can not aspect people to wait after a 8 minutes shoot to download the thing. Those ´filmdays´ are over (film reel and gate check is faster.)

So bring more cash.

interesting. So American users get the full deal for around £5700 and we get the deal for £6700.

yup, that sounds fair....
