HVX-200 and the Merlin

[Forrest Burger]

Just wanted to know if anyone is using their HVX-200 with a Steadicam Merlin. I own a Merlin and am considering an HVX purchase.

Thanks,

Forrest

Yup, the HVX and Merlin are a great match.

It works and produces some nice footage.

But the Panny's weight is at the Merlin's limits, and the combo is heavy

Thanks to everyone for responding. The Merlin is a great tool. I used it with my FX-1 with good results on a documentary I shot in Japan...especially on a river boat ride we took. With some potential upcoming projects I'm thinking about making the plunge to the HVX.

DVCPro HD is a great codec...and the footage that I've seen from the HVX is very nice as well.

Here's some footage shot with the Merlin and the HVX.

Also in the thread is a solution for adding a little extra weight to counter the weight of the HVX.

This combination has worked great for me.
