That's a nice setup!

Where did you find that energizer battery? That powers both the mayflash and the lcd right? If I remember correctly both need to power separately? How long does it power them for and how much did it cost?

Sorry for all the questions but I'm gonna be picking them up soon and need the easiest power source I can find.

Here's a link to the Energizer Energi to Go battery pack:

I have a simple 3 way plug that lets me run both adapters into it. I get about 2-2.5 hrs run time on a full charge.

I have a new video up where I go over how I built my rig and the equipment I use. Here are links:

Because the camera puts out a great image. Because they're all pieces he can use on any camera gets next. Because a cheaper camera allows him to have more flexibility and accessories at the same price (or less) than it would have cost him to just get a more expensive camera.

your rig makes me want an hv20 or 30 even more... I just spent the whole day walking about 4 miles with my Fx1 and redrock on rocky trails... I would have killed for an HV20!

Couldn't have said it better myself :D

why would you put all that into such a terrible piece of glass? I use an HV20 and I enjoy it but seriously...

Interesting question, but how could one answer that?

Kind of like, "why would you go out with her, her chest isn't the size I like." He likes it and it works for him (any many, many others, including reviewers).

"Terrible" is a relative word. And I should know because I have some terrible relatives.

Well, whatever you think of it, I like seeing the possibilities, even if I go another direction.

I like the spirit of intrepid Can do behind all this set up
as for glass
I recall that in my still continuing days of being a d p shoting 35mm - we have discusssions NoT arguements about various glass or lenses
Ziess is the sharpest, Cooke is almost always considered the best -various resons prevail -
yet old Astro Berlins and old Cooke and OLD Bauch and Lomb BALTARS and SuperBaltars are still serious choices !!!
So
The Technology which created this canon hv30 lens is well beyond a Baltar which is still a Serious Choice when shooting period films in the first run feature filmmaking world
SO
I would love to hear someone from Canon OPTICS come on to this nice little thread and comment on the resolution charts for the installed hv30 ZOOM LENS
therefore that person from Canon can inform us about quality of glass in this camera -With data .
AS for the entire set up ----Bravo !!!!
again discussion with data is what I am always after .
Bravo on the Rube Goldberg Set up and with a little less stuff the Cannon hv30 almost looks pro from a distance to a wary client --I like that,
Cheers
Bruce

I picked up the mattebox from dv-shop23 on ebay.

I was having trouble getting my HV30 to work with my Brevis. It seems like other people were having the same problem, so I went down to a HV20 and haven't had any problems.

I did a short video for my church using my rig and it turned out pretty good. You can check it out at my blog: http://nextwaveg.blogspot.com/
